You mean tariffs? That’s misleading. Do you not think the tariffs we pay other countries for their goods we import cause the price to be higher for our consumers? This was always going to happen and any basic understanding of international economics would tell you that. I certainly expected a rough start to this process. Yes tariffs are taxes on us citizens who are importing goods from other countries. I don't know why you would mislead people and act like they aren't a US government tax.
I would argue it’s a negotiation tactic as you’ve seen several countries lower or even eliminate the tariffs they were charging us. Do you see the difference between a literal tax and a tariff to bring people to the table to negotiate? Give a specific example of what you’re referring to of a tax increase.
