Only a few days ago we reported that gas prices in the US had reached another all-time high. This impacts the pocketbooks of average Americans across the country. Americans are already facing all-time highs in inflation by some measurements and now this.

The Hill reported this morning that Biden is canceling oil and gas lease sales despite gas prices going through the roof.

The Interior Department will not move forward with planned oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska’s Cook Inlet, it announced Wednesday night.
A spokesperson for the department confirmed the Cook Inlet lease sale would not proceed due to insufficient industry interest. Meanwhile, the planned sale of two leases, lease 259 and lease 261, in the Gulf of Mexico will not proceed due to contradictory court rulings on the leases, the spokesperson confirmed.
Shortly after taking office, President Biden signed an executive order freezing all new oil and gas leasing on federal lands. Last summer, Judge James Cain, a Trump appointee, struck down the ruling, prompting the Biden administration to appeal.

The Biden Administration is not acting like a group of people who care about the United States. This administration acts more like a group of people that want to destroy this country. This is why it looks like Obama is really running the show.

Because of title 42 there have been a number of repeated attempts by people to cross. In March, about 30% of people made multiple attempts versus an average of 7% pre-title 42. The number of people is actually fewer, but the apprehensions have gone way up.

Sure, Im even keeled enough to admit that my own personal bias and situation influence my opinions. Im in my early 40s, I have my two kids, both who were planned, and I have my own beliefs(which are quite moderate) but ... abortion rights do not even register in my top 10. I also dont know a single person considers this a major issue for them .... BUT ....admittedly, the overwhelming majority of people I know and have spoken too about this, are in the same position as my wife and I. Completely anecdotal, I know that .... BUT ....I just dont see this being a top issue amongst Independent voters, when gas prices and grocery costs are where they are and are expected to climb further.

Personally, we are upper middle class and live pretty well and within our means. I say that to say this ... we do most of our grocery shopping at Aldi and Lidl and our grocery bills have gone up significantly, to the point where we have noticed it. IT really hasnt impacted us, so we arent "feeling it" but we certainly have noticed. Luckly, I bought a whole hog and cow from a local farmer(benefit of living in a rural area) back in Feb, so from a meat perspective we are good ..... but ...... basic staples? We have noticed .... I have to figure that if WE have noticed it, people who live paycheck to paycheck have to be getting absolutely crushed. We have upped our Church offering an additional $20 per week, ear marked for Haven Ministries which runs our local homeless shelter and food bank.

To your point, its still a ways off till November, and American memories are embarrassingly short. Who knows what the climate will look like then ... but ... even if Roe is overturned ... and that is still a IF ... we will see what voters think in the booth when their grocery bills are double, triple, quadruple their normal amount and every car ride's validity has to be questioned due to the cost of gas? Is a purple state Independent voter who is hurting financially, really going to care/consider the abortion rights of a woman in ....Kansas (I just picked a state that I think has one of those legal abortion triggers)?????? Im not confident they will. Thats where national polls are, frankly, irrelevant. It will come down to individual races in individual States and congressional districts ... its the epitome of "all politics are local."

I mean ... need to keep in mind ... that if Roe is over turned, that doesnt mean abortion is illegal ... all it means is that the decision is kicked back to the States. What will the individual States do? The majority ... like 74% of Americans support the right to abortion up to 15 or 16 weeks ( I dont, but ... I dont have a Uterus, sooooooo Im sitting this one out) ... I think it would be a folly for Republicans to outlaw abortion completely ..... Its those abortions after 16 weeks and late term abortions where the divide grows and tends to shift.

She went to Planned Parenthood to get her birth control and other womans health needs, so I understand the need for Planned Parenthood for women's health and believe that it should be fully funded. IF and I stress IF ... Roe is overturned ... and States "outlaw" abortions, then those States need to also fund Planned Parenthood appropriately, so that women can readily get birth control and take care of their bodies....... should be doing that anyways .... With what happened in Buffalo this weekend, I think GOP terrorism will be on the ballot as well. So many republicans are becoming radicalized after being indoctrinated into Replacement Theory by Tucker Carlson that it is clear GOP / white nationalist terrorism will be a threat for years to come.
