Look at the viewership avg 2015-2019 vs. 2024 for teams (Regular Season):
ND from 4th to 12th (Drop in viewers) and they were good last year
CL from 9th to 24th (Drop in viewers and we were solid last year)
FSU from 14th to 25th (They were terrible and only dropped 9 spots)
Miami from 23rd down to 18th (They improved 5 spots and had a great season last year, heisman QB)
Stanford from 25th to 61st in viewership (Close to 40 spots because of the move from the dead Pac 12). They probably could have gotten better in the MTN West personally.
VT from 31st to 54th (Over 20 spots, they have been in a downward spiral for a while. Need a marquee coach.)
Lousville from 33rd to 48th (They were much better this past year as well but still a drop)
Pitt from 44th to 58th (They weren't a bad team and were in it for a while)
UNC from 45th to 75th (30 spot drop from a really poor avg. Nobody seems to care about UNC football anymore)
CAL 47th to 72nd (Bad for them just like Stanford, they could have had more viewers in Mtn West)
NC ST from 49th to 57th (8 point drop because of a poor season, but they should really be higher than 49th anyway)
Cuse from 51st to 62nd (11 point drop even after a good season)
GT from 56th to 21st (They went up 30 spots after a good season and playing GA, ND, FSU and other solid teams)
VA from 59th to 82nd (This is unacceptable to me. Nobody gives a rats ass about VA football)
Duke from 67th to 73rd (Not much of a change, which is decent for Duke). They actually care more about football than UNC, UVA, and WF lately
BC from 69th to 55th (BC is showing a little improvement and rated higher than NC ST because of the ND bump. It helps a lot.
WF from 71st to 80th (They went from bad to worse with a crappy season)
SMU from 77th to 74th (They got a little bump after a successful season. Not many SMU fans I guess because they were in the playoffs)
Top Tier teams need to play each other every year. Top Tier teams need to play 4 to 5 of the middle tier teams, and we need to replace the lower-level games like Furman/SC ST with 1 or 2 bottom feeders while keeping our rival games and one other big game. We should also look to schedule a Big 12 rotating game every year.
Top
ND/CL/FSU/Miami
Middle Tier
VT/Louisville/GT/Stanford/Pitt/UNC/CAL/Cuse
Bottom Feeders
SMU/WF/Duke/VA/BC
Sample Schedule for Clemson
WV - Big 12 rotational game each year
UGA - rotates every year
SMU - rotates every year
UVA - Rotates every year
ND - permanent
FSU - permanent
Miami - permanent
VT - rotates every year
Louisville - rotates every year
GT - rotates every year
Stanford - rotates every year
SC - permanent
This would send our TV viewership numbers through the roof. We would be back in the top 10 again.
