Personally, I believe he's just nuts enough to use a nuke. That happens in Ukraine and the Middle East will look like a garden party. It's scary what world fallout would be.

Putin is like a kid who keeps staying up a couple minutes past bed time just to see if he can get away with it. But he also knows that doing anything that would truly provoke NATO into military action would be a disaster for him. Even if the US isn’t involved, other NATO countries have the military power to cripple Russia and its highly doubtful allies from China or the middle east would come running to his defense. If the US is involved, forget about it. He was told by the previous admin that usage of nuclear weapons on any country would be retaliated against and hopefully the message is the same from this admin.
My concern is more as he gets older or closer to the grave does he just say **** it and go out creating as much chaos as possible.
I wonder if the oligarchs would actually let it get that far or his cabinet. They play along for now because it has little impact on them (just supposition). I would hope they would not let him go that far.
But as someone who studied and taught WWI and WWII there are lots of parallels that do not bode well for a greater conflict. That being said many experts have been predicting another war and another depression for years. 🤷♂️
