Zelensky, Trump press conference

My 401k and brokerage account have already taken a huge hit in the last couple of weeks and I don't see things getting better because the markets hate chaos.
Not financial advice, but i would sell it all if I were you.

They’re in a war they can’t win. Against an enemy they can’t defeat. All with our tax dollars and weapons. Because someone decided they should be in NATO. We don’t need allies like that.
You have a child's understanding of the Ukraine conflict. It blows my mind how stupid MAGA is wrt global stability and the US' current role.

There is a very good article on bloomberg about how the economy is being driven by relative to wealth

Idiot. Ukraine joining NATO was never on the table. Putin wants to rebuild the Russian Empire. Its why he invaded Georgia, invaded Crimea, invaded Ukraine, and wants to invade the Baltic states. We aren't the only nation helping Ukraine but us spending excess military supplies (aka what the entirety of our aid has been) is good. We need to check Russian aggression to keep the world safer.

Should Ukraine just roll over and let Russia brutalize them?

Buddy if you think Trump is bringing stability then I got oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you
Where in that post said stability?

I said the economy would be on fire 2 years from now. The market will be much higher.

Did you see the AtlantaFed GDPNow news? Or all the interviews with major investors (Ken Griffin and others) talking about how this is a nervous time to invest? Or jobless claims at a 3 month high? Or consumer spending at a 4 year low?

It was so refreshing to see that. I think it was important for the American people to see what we are doing with. Love the transparceny. JD stepping up on the stage and fighting for America.

Trump is a coward and so are you. How would you react if your family was attacked, murdered, and raped but then you’re told to not assign blame to the perpetrator and, better yet, told to give up more of your property (that your loved ones bled and died defending) in order to appease them? And better yet, your neighbor that contributed money to help your family fight then asks for payment >5x the amount contributed.

Trump is pushing the much smaller nation on defense to give in to a murderous tyrant’s demands - that is not what a stronger leader does. It’s disgraceful.

That's a complete bullshit take on it. You obviously have no regard for truth or reality. You just believe the childish simpleton propaganda designed to make you believe and say such nonsense.

I have to admit that I don't give a shit about Ukraine. But Russia is an enemy country. You can tell because we have nuclear weapons aimed at each other. We have spent a ton of money on Ukraine... that's true. But Russia has spent even more.

Back in October of last year, I saw estimates of 115K Russians killed and 500K wounded. Russia is to the point that they are letting N Korean troops fight for them and they are buying weapons and ammo from their allies to keep up with demand. What a disaster for them and not one American soldier killed.

Seems like it would be in our best interests to continue to back the folks that DON'T have nuclear weapons pointed at us even though they aren't our friends by any stretch of the imagination and certainly don't fit into the "good guys" category.

He writes at an eighth grade (SC public school) level and has the emotional fortitude of Mrs. Lincoln. MAGA is a laughingstock and, by extension, now making America a laughingstock.
Truth, I am ashamed to be an American right now and wondering if I should cancel my trip to Europe in May. This administration is a world cancer.

Saw something recently about how Russians are torturing Ukrainian women who are POWs and how the Russians are also kidnapping Ukrainian children in occupied areas

As a complete aside, the North Koreans fighting for Russia thing is funny because, apparently, the North Korean soldiers spend all day looking at internet porn now. The internet is (obviously) locked down in NK so now that they have access to it that is all they want to do.

Also, a world with a victorious Russia with sights set on more expansion, the EU militarizing more and more, war on the horizon, is a much more dangerous and much poorer world. It is in all our best interests for Russia to lose

Respect that viewpoint. I'm for ending it not dragging it on and on though. I want us to re-focus our $$ and re-build our arms stockpiles and/or invest in new. I also think thatbeing at a million casualties and counting is horrendous. Just stop it. But, all that said...keeping it going and letting both ukraine and russia bleed out is a course of action.

It's a pretty simple solution - Russia, give back the land you've illegally taken and pay restitution for your actions.

Pushing for anything besides that is a gross failure on our part as the supposed premiere superpower. Trying to shakedown the victim in this for more money is something a ****ing mob boss does and flies in the face of everything we've propped ourselves up to be the last 70 years.

Yeah treating allies this way by trying to humiliate them and shake them down means that no one will trust anymore

Dude, you won't get me to sell my Tesla stock. Nice try! I am not scared!

Maybe you can wait for more stability when the market reaches all time highs again. You can buy at the top.

The market is going to explode when all these fat government jobs become productive private jobs. 2 years, just in time for mid-terms.

Severance lasts 7-8 months. And then they will have to get a job.

So you admit that the goal is to privatize these departments?

That will be a failure of monumental proportions as our government services are taken over my Private Equity firms and no longer provide service at all. It will all be profit driven and ceas to be about servicing the patient, client, American, whatever

That is how a Fascist Oligarchy happens.

TRUMP: "Don't tell us what we're going to feel. We're trying to solve a problem. You're in no position to dictate what we're going to feel. We're going to feel very good and very strong. You're not in a good position. You don't have the cards right now, with us you start having cards. You're gambling with the livers of millions of people. You're gambling with WW3. What you're doing is very disrespectful to the United States who has backed you much more than they should have."

What are you talking about?

I said the inefficient government jobs will become more efficient private sector jobs.

Fascists don't respect individual liberties. Trump does. Much more so than your guy Biden.

There aren't enough sprinkles world-wide to make this turd taste good. I predict the chaos will get so bad that even Republicans will call for impeachment. This sh*t cannot last.

We will throw that on the trash pile that is the rest of your predictions.

Did you dump your stocks on the bottom like I told you to this morning?

What in the world do you think a private sector job is? That is literally privatizing services. That will put Government Services into the hands of Corporations who have the sole purpose of being as profitable as possible at any cost.

If you think

I don't think you carry the majority opinion anymore and your minority will get smaller and smaller. This toxic trainwreck will not be tolerated for long.

No. Elminate and consolidate Government services.

Not transfer from public to private. Reduce the overall scope of Governement.

What they got pissed about - specifically, what set Vance off - was the deal being effectively done then Z coming in and starting to make demands/requests in front of that audience. That wasn’t the forum for that. Not a great look for it to go down that way, but that is why.

The thing that people need to come to grips with is that this conflict is not winnable for Ukraine. The only chance they have to get all territory back and secure peace is to either 1) sign the deal securing US interests in the region and allowing them to leverage that in negotiations or 2) NATO country troops and assets on the ground and fighting in Ukraine. The latter isn’t happening.

Ukraine is gradually losing ground and proving unable to win it back and hold it successfully in any sort of meaningful or scalable way. Reasonable to surmise that will continue, at this point. As will the shocking casualty numbers. So, Ukraine can either continue the war and risk further significant losses, both territorial and human, or they can end it by trying to find mutually agreeable peace conditions. The mineral rights deal is simply a way to create leverage in those negotiations and create - ostensibly - US economic interests in Ukraine while creating some measure of western security provisions without overtly formalizing western security provisions.

That isn’t Russian apologism. That is realism. There is no point in sustaining a proxy conflict with US taxpayer money when it is effectively, a never ending and incredibly costly war of attrition. It’s dumb from a monetary/fiscal standpoint. It’s dumb from a preparedness standpoint. We don’t need to be draining our own war capabilities to extend this conflict. Right now, the projections for how long stockpiles of certain weapons in a hot, near peer war would last are appallingly bad. It is also highly questionable from a moral standpoint. It’s in the interest of the parties involved to secure peace. Quickly. That doesn’t mean it should be a peace that rewards Russia. I don’t think any think that. It should be a sustainable peace that ends the conflict. Realistically, that may mean it isn’t ideal from a Ukrainian standpoint.

Literally not what you said... Who do you think is going to do these services? You really think we are just eliminating all of these programs and services?

We aren't draining our war readiness in the least. The vast majority of supplies that we have sent to Ukraine have been stockpiles of old and expiring munitions.

I would say the major.gain for the USA has been to see how incredibly weak and poor Russia is militarily. This war has been extremely damaging to their military and their reputation.

That's also why it pisses me off that we are kissing up to Russia, they literally are at their weakest and we are treating them as if we are friends. It's absolutely ridiculous.
