There is a reason billionaires move to NYC and not whatever podunk town you live in.
I always find the disconnect amusing between the ideas that podunk folks have about NYC and the reality of it. It's an amazing city and I feel safer there than I would in Mobile Alabama. I'll actually be there in 8 days and I can't wait.
The crime rates in NYC are lower than most places in SC. Education is higher in NYC. Poverty is lower.

NYC isn’t the worst American city I’ve been in (here is looking at you Cleveland, Detroit, and Ft Wayne Indiana) but it’s mostly gross and smells like urine and sour fermented garbage.

I don’t get the NYC hate. Assume it’s mostly people who have never visited properly and just associate it with liberalism.
It’s been a while since I’ve been for anything other than business. But we had an absolute blast on our last non work trip there. And I’ve had some super fun nights during work trips.
