Vanessa Guillen’s sister and family attorney slam Atlantic editor for claiming Trump dissed murdered Army servicewoman: ‘He outright LIED’

A perfect example of FAKE NEWS!!! The sister of Vanessa Guillen just voted for Trump today.

Atlantic FAKE NEWS story blown up

Story by Victor Nava

Afamily attorney and the sister of slain Texas soldier Vanessa Guillen both dismissed a report in the Atlantic Tuesday alleging that former President Donald Trump refused to pay for the Army specialist’s funeral and disparaged her ethnicity.

The piece, written by the magazine’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, claims Trump fumed about a $60,000 bill he received from Guillen’s family for her funeral during a December 2020 Oval Office meeting – allegedly telling aides that “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f—king Mexican.”

“Don’t pay it!” Trump ordered his then chief of staff Mark Meadows, after previously telling the Guillen family he would assist with Vanessa’s funeral expenses, according to Goldberg.

Vanessa Guillen, 20, was murdered at her Texas Army base in 2020.

Mayra Guillen, Vanessa’s sister, slammed the Atlantic report as “hurtful & disrespectful,” and indicated that the former president treated her family with “respect” in the aftermath of sister’s brutal killing.

“Wow,” Mayra wrote on X, in response to Goldberg’s reporting. “I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics – hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members.”

“President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa,” she added. “In fact, I voted for President Trump today.”

Natalie Khawam, an attorney for the Guillen family, accused the Atlantic editor of lying in the piece.

“After having dealt with hundreds of reporters in my legal career, this is unfortunately the first time I have to go on record and call out Jeffrey Goldberg@the Atlantic: not only did he misrepresent our conversation but he outright LIED in HIS sensational story,” Khawam wrote on X.

“More importantly, he used and exploited my clients, and Vanessa Guillen’s murder… for cheap political gain,” she added.

Khawam called the “timing” of Goldberg’s report “quite suspicious.”

“[T]his supposed conversation that Trump had would have occurred over 4 years ago!” the attorney noted. “Why a story about it now?!”

“As everyone knows, not only did Trump support our military, he also invited my clients to the Oval Office and supported the I Am Vanessa Guillen bill too,” Khawam continued. “I’m grateful we were successful in getting bipartisan support of the I Am Vanessa Guillen Act, and because of everyone’s hard work and efforts our service members now have more protections and rights while serving our country.”

Goldberg claims in his piece that Khawam told him “she sent the bill [for Vanessa’s funeral] to the White House, but no money was ever received by the family from Trump.”

Meadows also dismissed Goldberg’s reporting.

“Any suggestion that President Trump disparaged Ms. Guillen or refused to pay for her funeral expenses is absolutely false,” he wrote on X. “He was nothing but kind, gracious, and wanted to make sure that the military and the U.S. government did right by Vanessa Guillen and her family.”

Vanessa Guillen, 20, was killed at Fort Cavazos, formerly Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas in 2020 by a fellow soldier Aaron Robinson, who committed suicide following a confrontation with police after Guillen’s body was found in the woods.

Robinson’s then-girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar, helped dismember and hide Guillen’s body.

She pleaded guilty last year for her role in the crime and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

An investigation by military officials into Guillen’s murder determined that she was also sexually harassed and that leaders failed to take appropriate action.

The Atlantic did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

In 2020, Goldberg reported that Trump referred to dead US troops as “suckers” and “losers” on the morning of a planned visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France in 2018.

Trump denied that report.

Observations from a Clemson fan who hasn’t been on campus for several years-

Pros
>Great cell service in the stadium
>Flow coming in for ticketing was easy
>Video board is fantastic, great sound
>campus looks great, lots of new buildings
>love the way the lake is being emphasized w development
>never really went on the field as a student, probably bc it was the Tommy west era. My son really enjoyed it - it’s a cool tradition

Cons
>As many have said, the hill still looks weird, nobody runs down. It’s like a controlled trickle of players
>can we not get money from the state to beautify the overpasses at both I85 and the entrance to Clemson. They look like Sh&t
>when you pull up to the campus, near the on ramp, it’s all parking lots. Seems like someone would think - is this what we want everyone to see when entering Clemson.
>so much construction. I hope downtown doesn’t lose all its character
>when are we going to do something w lightsey bridge.
>concession lines were awful. I bet there were 50 people waiting in line during halftime.
>stadium bleachers needs better signage, put section letters on bleachers.

Btw- what are they doing at the I85 exit? They bulldozed that white house and all the trees? Something massive-

Feel free to post - old man yells at clouds!

Football Officiating

The % of bad calls is skyrocketing at every level of football. Officials need to be held accountable for how they are negatively affecting games. Suspension and lost pay need to be considered following every game. Replays that slow the game and change momentum are not the answer. It is becoming more and more obvious that certain officials are biased.

How much of football Chaos is due to helmet headphones?

Has the helmet headphone caused some of the chaos in college football? Could sign stealing be more significant (especially with expansive personnel in athletic departments) than we ever thought?

When helmet headphones were announced, my thought was that would help the quarterbacks and reduce their mental load (not having to interpret signs). Some people are either aural (hearing) or visual learners. Could the quarterbacks that are visual learners be struggling with the aural calls? You also have coaches that may be sending other communication along with the play call. This is the first year and both the coaches and quarterbacks are learning how to handle it. I absolutely can see a snowball communication problem where the quarterback is swimming mentally (with all the aural information coming) and coaches speaking more and more to try and help them out. There are probably hybrid systems out there where the quarterback gets his information and the receivers get sideline signals. It appears to me that Klubnik is communicating the play call to the rest of the offense - something other quarterbacks may struggle with (yet more mental processing).

My other though was how offenses are structured. As far as I can tell, Riley (Garret) has mix and match blocking schemes, receiver routes, running back duties, and quarterback instructions. There are some integrated plays like the jet sweep and screens. The quarterback instructions would include RPOs with variation in the order of options. I am sure there is a great deal of variation between how many integrated plays, mashup variations, and RPO (options) across college football. These offenses require all the pieces to be synchronized in order to work (which Clemson obviously was not last season). Now that most teams are combinations of two deep players who have learned the system and transfers, the lack of cohesion may be showing. Florida State is a prime example where the transfer offensive linemen are out of sinc (as may be Alabama).

Numerous Democratic candidates are now putting Trump in their campaign add touting they agreed or voted with him

In swing states that is going to really hurt a close race ticket

It’s because Trump is pulling ahead and the Dems are fighting to survive

Through half the season - How would you rate our roster below

We are halfway through THIS season. How would you rate our roster below:

Played over there ranking, played up to their ranking, played below their ranking
**Playing below their ranking means they also could be injured, redshirting, etc. - not helping the team much at all this year**

Looking at how each position group has performed this year. We have a LOT of young guys on this roster that are continuing to get better. Dabo making the switch at DE and OL was what we needed. Recruiting had really fallen off at DE as we are seeing with depth this year. That is a position where Rumph needs some funds to go get a guy. Losing Davis to Duke really hurts. I think Luke will get us the OL we need. He is so dynamic and getting so much more out of the guys we got, so that makes me feel a lot better. LB could really hurt us down the road. I like Brown and the Anderson kid we got in this class, but don't see too much for the future. We really need a QB in this class as well (not a portal guy). We need the funds to go get us one. I am concerned about a Bonafide starter at RB next season, but do feel we can win with Haynes, EZ and Gideon. Would love a Bonafide starter to come in for one year to be the guy to allow for EZ and Gideon to get their feet wet. Not sure if Capehart, Page, or Williams have another year of eligibility, but we are going to need to move Woods back to DT if we don't have at least 1 of these guys back. We really seem to have a lot of highly rated DB's that are young that we are going to really need to step up over these next few seasons.

Mayo (4) - Playing below ranking, not seeing field and being redshirted
Denhoff (4) - Playing below ranking, but being forced to play because of terrible depth
Hoeffler (4) - Playing below ranking, was hoping to see him produce more this year considering our lack of options at this position
**This is a position where we need a bonified starter and some depth to come in from the portal this off season and move Woods back to DT**

LB
Carter (5) - Playing below his ranking, though he has been playing better as of late but nowhere near his ranking
Woodaz (3) - He is playing way above his ranking, great player and versatile
Brown (5) - Playing above his ranking this early in his career. Super productive and notice him when he is on the field
Crayton (3) - Playing below his ranking, not really seeing the filed much

McCloud (3) - Playing below his ranking, injured and out for the year, redshirting
Wilkinson (3) - Playing below his ranking, redshirting
D. Woodaz (3) - Playing below his ranking, redshirting
**We had some solid pieces at LB, but we may need a guy in the portal for this position for one year**

CB
Terrell (4) - Playing above his ranking, one of the best in the country, future NFL Star
Lukus (4) - Playing at his ranking this year. He is really starting to come on as a starter this year

Paul…official visit vs unofficial visit question

@Paul Strelow

It’s been said that there are numerous schools (or their collectives) that are paying significant money just for kids to visit? Who have you heard are the schools on that list and how does that work exactly? Do the kids not have to do anything at all in exchange for the cash aside from show up for the visit? Assume this applies to both unofficial and official visits? Is there even much distinction between the two at this point if the collective can cover all aspects of an unofficial visit?

I assume 110 Society or any other booster affiliated with Clemson are not involved whatsoever with covering any visit expenses?
