Amazon workers give finger to Bernie

Now the left is claiming voter fraud???

Nothing new. They claimed it on 2016. Hypocrites
This is largely untrue and there are stark differences between Democrats’ complaints about the 2016 election and the Republicans’ claims about the 2020 election.

Democrats felt that there was a concerted effort by foreign countries (primarily Russia) to influence the outcome of the election. They did this by using social media accounts to spread misinformation and outright falsehoods to the public in a systematic effort to confuse voters and sew division in the electorate. This proved out to be true, and I’m sure its something they’re still doing.

There were concerns over whether or not they could/did access voter rolls and whether they could actually impact someone’s voter registration or actually change votes and there was no evidence that they did this. While I’m sure there were some leftists who claimed actual election fraud, most mainstream Democrats accepted that there wasn’t really any controversy in the actual counting of the votes, but rather a larger systemic problem of massive amounts of misinformation being distributed to voters by foreign governments and domestic ”news” outlets.

Of course then the concern became whether or not the Trump campaign had actively worked with Russian officials in their efforts to have him elected and in particular there was concern as to whether Russian officials had shared intelligence on political opponents to the Trump campaign or vice versa. As It turned out, there were in fact some members of the Trump campaign and administration who were guilty of this and several people were indicted, though it was concluded that the President himself was likely not directly involved.

The Republican claims over voter fraud in 2020, like any voter fraud claims in 2016, were completely baseless and void of any evidence. There was another massive misinformation campaign to spread lies about fraudulent election practices. They were so baseless that every single challenge in court was thrown out, including by the Supreme Court which contains 3 Trump appointed justices. Here in Texas, the only actually documented case of voter fraud was committed by Republicans in a local election.

These baseless claims were accepted and spread by mainstream Republican politicians, including the President. This led to unprecedented challenges to the vote which undermined the integrity of American elections - which seems to have been a key goal of the Russian interference that took place in 2016. The mainstream Republicans lending credibility to these outlandish claims eventually lead to an attempted coup on our nation’s capitol, where those who believed that the election was being stolen stormed into the capitol, killed a capitol police officer, and attempted to access the house chamber where representatives were. They came so close to making it into the congressional chamber that one person was shot and killed in their attempt at sedition.

Still, Republicans continue to feed into conspiracy theories and are now actively trying to change election laws to make it more difficult for people who likely would not vote for them to vote at all and to give power to state legislatures to overturn election results that they do not like.

So, in sum...the election issues that were brought up in 2016 turned out to be legtitimate. A foreign government DID attempt to systematically influence the election and some campaign officials DID break the law by colluding with them. The election issues brought up in 2020 were completely baseless but lead to a treasonous riot at the capitol building and is eroding American democracy and leading us closer and closer to the Fascism that President Trump so wished for.

Hell yeah. Unions are trash.
We bid a job for the reconstruction a a Terminal at LaGuardia a few years ago. The scope was to replace all systems/hardware that deal with passenger processing, so PCs at the checkin counters, gate stands, the FIDs monitors throughout the terminal in addition to the back end platform etc ..... any ways ..... since we had to “plug equipment in” on a “construction site in New York” we had to include union labor in our bid.

long story short, we ended up paying this 5’9 250 lb meat ball to stand there and eat sandwiches as our install team unpacked and set up everything.

of course ..... if we hadn’t paid the union ..... all our shit would’ve been busted and broken when we arrived to work.

sooooo ya Unions are trash.

teachers want immediate pay raises? Disband your union and associated dues.

I respectfully disagree. Union wages fed my wife’s family for 30 years. Are there bad people in unions yes just like there are bad owners and CEO’s. God forbid the skilled labor folks have a seat at the table. I’m not making a blanket statement but I am saying there are some very good people working in some good unions.

And BTW I think the Amazon folks (warehouse employees and drivers ) will rethink this decision at some point. There work conditions are very difficult.

Wow, umm, just wow!

There are good people in unions, there are no good labor unions. Unless of course, you think the science of economics is hogwash and you like paying higher prices for things.

Knowing someone in a union, especially someone who benefited from that union, doesn't change anything.

Do you have a link to the meatball position? That sounds right up my alley.

Erosion of unions (and other similar groups that organize the labor class) is directly correlated to the demise of shrinking of the American middle class. And we wonder why the income gap between the wealthy and the rest of us continue to grow every year.

If unions went away tomorrow we would all get a pay raise due to reduced prices.
Unions do not serve the greater good. DHEC, osha and other government agiencies more than protect workers from issues unions were created to address. It is very ironic that democrats that claim to care about the poor support organizations like unions that increase the costs of basic goods . Unions serve no other purpose than to artificially inflate incomes for a certain segment of the population at the expense of the rest of the country- particularly lower income families.

Is the only thing that matters paying the least possible price for goods and services?

Very true, very honest, but convincing a Republican to believe these truths is nearly impossible.

If unions went away tomorrow we would all get a pay raise due to reduced prices.
I’m not here to sing the praises of unions but this is laughable. Vast majority of corporations would take any cost savings and do stock buy backs. Maybe workers would see a tiny percentage trickled down to them. Real wages have barely budged for decades.

It’s not about ‘believing’ for Republicans. Do you really think that someone like Ted Cruz, a Princeton and Harvard educated attorney, actually believes there was massive voter fraud despite no evidence? He sees this as a way to do exactly what Republicans are doing - changing voting laws so that they can maintain/gain more power and push forward with the policy agendas they actually care about.

For politicians the ends ultimately justify the means. This seems to be especially true amongst conservatives who deal with a lot more moral absolutism than liberals tend to.

Then how in the world do you explain HR 1? This bill is blatantly unconstitutional and completely driven by liberals to take over ALL state elections. Talk about hypocrisy of a magnitude I’ve never seen before. You can GTFO with your takes on “conservatives want to gain and maintain power at any cost blah blah blah...”. HR1 is EXACTLY that, but proposed by the left. So yeah, get out.

What's unconstitutional about it?

I remember many years ago our sister plant went on strike. We were a non-union plant in SC. The New Jersey plant strike turned into a nasty mess with one person getting shot. My Company and the union eventually settled the strike for a $.05 an hour raise. Our raise was 5% and upgrades in benefits. 10-15 years later that plant was shut down and their products manufacturing was spread to other nonunion plants.
There was a time in history when unions helped people, but not in the last 30 years.
