Meh. He poorly worded a valid point. Why there is such a push to expose children to sex is weird, and a bridge too far for a lot of people. Also a weird hill to die on for some of you folks.
Let me attempt to make an important point here that gets talked past and is at the core maybe of the disagreement that exposing LGBTQ people to children is exposing them to sex. Telling kids that LGBTQ people exist and are not monsters is not exposing them to sex. I remember having this same discussion with someone like 15 years ago. He said: "If I'm with my kids at Walmart and they see two men holding hands and ask me why two dudes are doing that? What am I supposed to even tell them?" The same thing you'd say if they asked if it was a man and a woman. They love each other. Or were you going to turn to your kid and tell them that the couple is going to go home and put a penis in a vagina?
Love is the nuance and it seems this isn't talked about. LGBTQ people are attracted to different things. I don't understand why or how and I can't make myself be attracted to men but I can certainly respect them enough to understand they are people and treat them as such.
Normalizing LGBTQ people to children, is in NO WAY EXPOSING THEM TO SEX. Teaching kids empathy is good. Right?
I don’t disagree with any of that. As a parent though, my goal is to teach my children to respect everyone no matter who they are. Defining a certain group by who they have sex with or what kind of porn they watch isn’t a part of the discussion right now (mine are 7, 6, and 2). They don’t need to discuss straight or gay or bi or whatever distinctions at this age. Full stop. You are correct on all counts. I just think there is an age below which the goal isn’t to engage them in discussion about top surgery or have them at drag queen children’s time at a library. It’s simply to teach them that all people deserve to be treated with kindness and dignity.
My oldest’s piano teacher is trans. He is a wonderful person and a great teacher. He is a professor at a local university and the music director at our church. All 3 of our girls love him and he’s great with them. However, my kids don’t know that about him, nor do they need to.

Right, thats what I figured. Libs of tictock is run by a Christian conservative who believes that homosexuality is an abomination. She's smart and her zealotry, conviction and bigotry has lead her to embrace sensationalizing issues to indoctrinate people to hate LGBTQ as much as she does. She wants the government to pass laws banning LGBTQ peoples life styles.
Problem is we live in the greatest country on earth and are protected from oppression from the government. She's dangerous though as dum dums will fall for her nonsense and smart religious fanatics whole heartedly support her and the goal to oppress people.
Thats your right as a parent to educate your kids however you want. I have 3 kids as well 9,4 and 1. I have had 0 convos about sex with any of them. I have talked to the 9 year old and 4 year old about not letting anyone touch them in certain places and that they must tell us if that happens. Gross but ... hey got to have a healthy convo about it.
The 9 year old knows that gay people exist, but its just not a thing that even is worth thinking about. What people are doing though is trying to get in front of kids and let them know they exist and they are people.
Im not in any way a supporter of telling my 9 year old what gay sex or sex is just yet, its not time. Thats my choice.
I respect parents decisions on how they want to instruct on sex. I would state though, the studies show that public sex ed has been overall a good thing for the country and allow parents to opt in and out.
I mainly have a big problem with the sensationalization and association of people with sex. It seems some equate the existence of LGBTQ with sex only and this correlation leads them to push back on any discussion about LGBTQ. Its a false equivalency and is very destructive and oppressing.

One point I would add is that gender doesn't equal sexuality which is really hard for many, including myself to understand. For example I know a trans Women(born biological Man) who dates women and considers herself a lesbian. I have asked why she didn't stay a man, since that would have been easier, she said she felt authentic as a women and that's what made her feel most true. Hard for me to rationalize, but that's her right and I just want her to be happy.
At the end of the day, just basically don't be a dick and let others be happy living their lives. Who someone sleeps with doesn't impact me in the slightest.
