No surprise, but the President’s “transgender mice” that he spoke about the other night don’t actually exist and the project he was speaking of was actually for research on asthma treatments.
So I think there’s a legitimate debate to be had here - do we believe the government should be funding projects/experiments whatever to research things like cancer treatments, asthma, etc? But we can’t have that debate because instead of making that argument, we instead get ridiculous untruths like the government was funding transgender mice.
The same is happening with social security. You think social security should be slashed or you think it should be privatized? Cool, just say that and then let’s come up with a policy that works. Instead the President spouts outright falsehoods about 150 year olds receiving social security benefits.
Why can’t we make the truth the centerpiece of our policy debates rather than exorbitant falsehoods?

literally nothing in that post backs up the President’s claim. Its wild how you’ll post something and claim it as proof or vindication, but what you post is still actually showing how wrong you are.
It's the exact same situation as the 50mm for Condoms to Gaza. They twist everything to find that X amount went to a location named Gaza, and then a negligible amount of condoms went to the middle east as an area, so its fine to say we sent 50mm worth of condoms to Hamas to use in making bombs.
I think our point is that we don't care what reason is given. The correct amount that should be going to Gaza is precisely $0, while our country allows our cities to decay in front of our eyes and our citizens to accept third world service.
Fix our country first and then we can talk about foreign aid. As it stands we need 10-20 years to focus on ourselves and get our shit in order.
We get that you want to make your point that Trump is a liar! but like always there is probably some truth to what he was saying. There did appear to be studies done on mice at least loosely related to sexuality.
It would be nice if Democrats would just say, you know what "We agree with DOGE in principle." We agree that the government should be free of fraud and waste. However, we would go about it another way. And then tell us how they would provide accountability.

Stephen A Smith made some excellent points for the Democratic party yesterday or the day before. He can articulate his point and call out nonsense when he sees it. He knows the far left is done and if the democrats want to win they must pivot to the center. At the moment, he has the most sane voice for the democratic party. He is the only one who can seemingly get his voice above the far left.

I haven't seen a single non-MAGA on this forum say they didn't agree with finding and rooting out waste, they just don't like the slash and burn approach that DOGE does. I think we all agree that finding fraud/corruption/waste/etc is important, but approaching it with a sledgehammer instead of a scalpel isn't the technique most of us support.

In the address the other night, if he had just said “the federal government should not be sending any aide whatsoever to the Middle East” I’d have respected it a lot more, and it’d have been a much better starting point for any policy debate etc, than just listing a bunch of falsehoods.

In fairness, I find that that regardless of what I say, people seem to hear "Donald Trump bad" and "TDS" etc.
I agree that you individually seem to be very reasonable, but left of center. I appreciate it and i try to treat others how they treat me on here. Sorry if you get lumped in with the crowd.
But the general them is that democrats need to pivot to the center while they seem to be letting the far left dictate the headlines and direction of the party.

I argued that during the first primary, he was further right than a lot of the others candidates (which is why I think he won) (will also add he governed further left than he ran/was previously). I likely argued for or supported specific policies. And I likely even argued he was still better than the alternative. But I didn't mislead any public, etc.

Why don't democrats start off by talking about where they went wrong? @yoshi121374 finally made a reasonable post the other day recognizing what is going on. They were massive favorites going into the election, they held power for 12 of last 16 years, but lost in a landslide. Trump won convincingly and has a high approval rating, maybe democrats should ask what they are missing? How are they going to help the American people?
The Democrat party i grew up around used to stand for the blue collar worker, the unions. Now, it seems they stand for transgender rights, DEI, and Inflation. Whether that is fair or not is irrelevant, only if it's true. I think it's true that is how the democratic brand is perceived right now.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom putting on any political party paraphernalia. They are shapeshifting grifters on a good day. It’s soulless across the board.
It would be like wearing a Cross claiming your Christianity but then the Church you belong to:
- pushes Jesus to the side for 20 years
- elevates Mary for 50 years
- brings Jesus back
- claims Christianity to be godless for convenience to absorb an extremist faction
- adopts certain Buddhist principles
