CNN Caught Red-Handed Making Up ‘Russian Collusion’ Stories, Refuses to Retract

A July 27 CNN story which the network has called a “bombshell” has turned out to be riddled with lies, and was clearly published only to further the bogus Russian “collusion” narrative.
The former cable news titan broke sensational news claiming that Michael Cohen, former attorney to President Donald J. Trump, had told investigators that he personally witnessed Trump being informed of a 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The President has long denied having knowledge of the meeting amid mainstream press speculation.
CNN sourced “people who have discussed the matter with Cohen,” and claimed that Cohen’s own attorney, Lanny Davis, declined to comment on the story.
The narrative crumbled when Davis admitted he was the anonymous source – in CNN’s words “people who have discussed the matter with Cohen” – contradicting the claim he refused to comment on the story.

The fact that Davis did not comment for the story is an outright lie which CNN has refused to denounce or retract.
Further, Davis claimed to have lied to CNN, and that Cohen did not witness Trump being informed of the 2016 meeting.
It is possible, albeit unlikely given the network’s history of deceit, that there were other anonymous sources who confirmed for CNN that Cohen had witnessed Trump being informed of the meeting. The claim itself could still be true.
But CNN has refused to clarify, instead generically informing readers that it stands by its reporting, even when other news outlets, including Jeff Bezos’ Trump-hating blog The Washington Post, have retracted stories supposedly confirming it.
