I really appreciate you spelling this out for them, and you're 100% right. Unfortunately "DEI" is the new conservative dog whistle like "woke" is and "feminism" used to be. They won't EVER see reason or even try to understand anything about it no matter how much you try and engage with them about it. It's wild.
It's scary how far the administration has gone with this heavy-handed way of dealing with private corporations and universities. Big Brother forced the issuance of this sinister memo to my cousin's university this week. Creepy...

“Following NSF guidance, we ask PI's to comply with recent executive orders and “cease all activities that use or promote the use of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) principles and frameworks or violates federal anti-discrimination laws. In particular, this may include, but is not limited to conferences, trainings, workshops, considerations for staffing and participant selection, and any other grant activity that uses or promotes the use of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) principles and frameworks or violates federal anti-discrimination laws;”

Imagine being a Sociology professor in this environment. She's literally confused and worried about what concepts she's allowed to teach about now.

I'm gonna need some clarification from the MAGAs and what they mean by DEI? Does this mean my office no longer needs wheelchair ramps? How will some of our current MAGAs get inside with their scooters?

Gonna be much easier for me next time I have a female employee who is nursing. I no longer have to let them pump.

Gonna be awesome when I have an employee our for Breast Cancer treatments, like I currently do because I can fire her since FMLA doesn't count anymore.

Or, does DEI only apply to non whites and non hetero?

People with breasts are not allowed to get special treatment, especially if there is a straight white male that could do her job,
