DeepSeek is Cheap Chinese Propaganda Trick

I really appreciate you spelling this out for them, and you're 100% right. Unfortunately "DEI" is the new conservative dog whistle like "woke" is and "feminism" used to be. They won't EVER see reason or even try to understand anything about it no matter how much you try and engage with them about it. It's wild.
It's scary how far the administration has gone with this heavy-handed way of dealing with private corporations and universities. Big Brother forced the issuance of this sinister memo to my cousin's university this week. Creepy...

“Following NSF guidance, we ask PI's to comply with recent executive orders and “cease all activities that use or promote the use of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) principles and frameworks or violates federal anti-discrimination laws. In particular, this may include, but is not limited to conferences, trainings, workshops, considerations for staffing and participant selection, and any other grant activity that uses or promotes the use of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) principles and frameworks or violates federal anti-discrimination laws;”

Imagine being a Sociology professor in this environment. She's literally confused and worried about what concepts she's allowed to teach about now.

I'm gonna need some clarification from the MAGAs and what they mean by DEI? Does this mean my office no longer needs wheelchair ramps? How will some of our current MAGAs get inside with their scooters?

Glad you caught that

"accessibility (DEIA)"

What the hell?

Gonna be much easier for me next time I have a female employee who is nursing. I no longer have to let them pump.

Gonna be awesome when I have an employee our for Breast Cancer treatments, like I currently do because I can fire her since FMLA doesn't count anymore.

Or, does DEI only apply to non whites and non hetero?

MAGA amirite?

People with breasts are not allowed to get special treatment, especially if there is a straight white male that could do her job,

lol. maybe Donnie shouldn't have put in a hiring freeze earlier this month. ATC hiring numbers have been down for over a decade bc it's an incredibly high stress job with shit pay.
What is the s... pay you speak of, WapPride?

Tell me about coherent. Until the I will go with your English skills being third rate. Thank god for the SC public education system.

Noticed grammatical errors in your post.

Per your being particular about English skills please respond to me only using grammar and spell check.

I might also suggest a AI to write your response.

Funny how it wasnt improved or seen as a priority the first time Trump was in office....

Also, why are we discussing DEI? Oh right, MAGA has to blame non white men for everything.

My ears heard that color has nothing to do with it.

It is all about qualified and merit based people.

Get off the racist rant you are trying to encourage.

You’re welcome to google. It depends on the market - Virginia/Maryland average is $24/hr or $48k/year. I have no idea if that’s accurate but it’s the first google result.

For the stress they deal with, I can see why staffing is down.

Pay is NOT THE PROBLEM

PROBLEM ONE IS IT IS BURN OUT PRONE

TOUGH JOB PAYING REALLY GOOD

NEXT PROBLEM IS DEI LOWERED STANDARDS

BLOCKING QUALIFIED WHITE CANDIDATES

No one agrees with hiring people to fill a quota over those with merit but that's not the whole picture. I'm sure that has happened at times but I have some inside experience with this because we have clients that asked us to diversify our workforce(Apple for one) and my cousin is a Sociology professor in NC.

It's more about making sure that a wider pool of qualified people are aware of your openings by placing ads in media they consume or through outreach to orgs like the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, for example.

There is no requirement that you hire people who are less qualified, it's more about adding them to your pool of applicants. For my company, it was more about adding people, not subtracting or giving a job to somebody less qualified than another. Others may have a different experience but all in all, I do think having a diverse workforce that reflects the poulation as a whole is a net positive.
Everyone in fortune 500 understands this. It's such a weird thing to champion against.

A business entity that is pushing heavily to add people who are not white or are a specific sexual orientation to their "pool" from which to choose from will not pick based on skin color or sexual orientation but will instead pick the strongest candidate?

Who said anything about heavily? I just said expand the pool of applicants, which could very well lead to better candidates, while also letting them know you are a friendly company for them to work for.

But to answer your question, yes you would still want to pick the best candidate.

The NFL did this with the Rooney rule which did not mandate you hire a black coach, only that you give them an opportunity to interview.

I don't expect you to understand if you've never worked in a large organization.
