DEI

Seems i struck a nerve

Mr. Fat Piggy,

While in receipt of your prompt response, please be advised that when I have consulted with our Legal Counsel and members of our team on this matter--which has been forwarded to their attention just this morning--I will offer an additional response. However, at this time I have no further details, and again, appreciate your bringing the concerns to my attention.

Anita

No idea. Don't feel like looking it up. Not interested in a gotcha battle. Have a good one.
UrHuckleberry, the point here is that you don't want to look up the truth about Dems when they do dumb things about alleged discrimination but you are ready to slam Repub. when it appears the same has happened. That's called discrimination!

K, don't think you really know me at all. But you do you. Argue against the imaginary person you've made me to be. Have at it.

DEI definitely gets lumped in with affirmative action and quotas. And those are generally part of what people perceive DEI as being focused on.

I get the intent of DEI programs and if they are executed as you both describe, sure, that's not a bad thing. But that's not the case in reality. Two quick examples:

I work for a pre-IPO company. Two years ago, we had a management consultant come in and tell us that our leadership team wasn't diverse enough and that it would negatively impact our IPO. Nevermind the fact that we have people born in 4 different countries on our leadership team, which provides tons of the diversity of perspective sought by these types of initiatives. But there were no "people of color," so we're not diverse enough.

And we know that colleges discriminate based on race. That's been declared as illegal now (correctly so) and groups are suing universities for discrimination. Here's the first link on Google of this happening with CA universities.

Here's the deal. We should all be inclusive and kind and accommodating. But I shouldn't get shit for not manufacturing diversity on my leadership team. And my blond-haired, blue-eyed sons shouldn't be passed over by less qualified students for college admission. Period.

And people are sick of that shit. Rightfully so.
Your blond haired, blue eyed sons shouldn't get the nod over the same qualified students and odds are that is a possibility.

People are sick of that shit.

Can you explain why a group of Asian students filed a class action law suit against Harvard for discrimination?
Or why students admitted under DEi guidelines have an exponentially higher failure/ drop out rate?

"...the same qualified students..."

While the grammar is strange, what's stranger is your issue here. If there are people with identical qualifications (a less eloquent way of saying what you did, to be sure), then yes, logic says it's a coin flip from there or you rely on intangibles. So sure, sometimes the blue-eyed, blond-haired boys will get the nod over "same qualified students."

Do you have an issue with removing racial, age, sexual, etc questions and qualifications from a resume?

I do a lot of hiring and have for many years. My experience with DEI is guidelines to not hire based on demographics, and hire based on qualifications. I have never been directed to hire a specific race or group, just to be open to people from all groups.

I just see this attack against DEI programs as trying to find a Boogeyman.

Are there racial, age and sexual questions on a resume? I haven't done a resume in 15 years, but were I to do one, I wouldn't mantion my race, sex, age or sexual orientation. They could infer that from my name and work history of course. And everyone looks people up on LinkedIn now, so the picture would disclose my race.

I guess I don't understand the question.

The eloquent post above was in reference to students though, so unrelated to work resumes. And of course I don't think that a student with higher qualifications should be passed over due to their race.

Weird you got so hung up on that, but do you.

Glad you recognize the inherent advantage your children have because of the way they look.

Chicago is so diverse that white people can't go in certain parts of the city. Well, not if they want to come out alive.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Just like the shit on the streets of San Francisco. It doesn't have to be that way.

My daughter and I had to travel on business and we took her mom which is my my wife to parts of Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago,San Francisco and some more big blues cities

The cities are crime ridden crappers with trash in the alleys off the main drags

I have seen better conditions in many third world countries

Yes there is the beautiful but also the dumps

My email to the Super Intendent

Anita - I am a real person, a real parent, with real concerns. I do not want a generic response.

You have been appointed to represent all children. I want to know if you think this is an appropriate program? Is this what you represent? Are white children invited to this event and if so why does it only specifically include "black" on the invitation?

If you want to create a Wall Street program that is available for ALL children I will be happy to fund the first $10,000 and participate in the program by sharing my 25 years of Wall Street knowledge.

This is personal to me. I took time out of my day last week to talk to kids of all races and now my children are being discriminated against.

Please do not respond with a generic response or i will make sure this become a much larger issue.

Thank you, Mr. Fat Piggy

Go for it

Never claimed to "know you" but I was responding to your actions and comments. Your fascination with DEI is interesting and as I said it really doesn't work in practice. As I stated previously, who is the evaluator of your successful use of DEI?

Your second sentence is an outright lie.

The point of DEI programs is not to ensure there is no discrimination. That is an outright lie. Not an honest start to the conversation.

DEI was specifically designed to discriminate against white and Asian folks primarily and also against Latino with preference to black candidates

I said it and I stand 100% behind that statement cause I saw it many times in action

Just cause you "Said it and stand behind" it doesn't make it true. In fact, your posting history would lead me to draw the opposite conclusion...
