USAID’s financial year 2023 report on contraceptive and condom shipments, the most recent data available, notes that only one Middle Eastern country — Jordan — received a small shipment of injectables and oral contraceptives valued at $45,680 for government programs only. This was USAID’s first shipment to the Middle East since financial year 2019.
USAID reports from the first three-quarters of 2024 show the only family planning programs funded by the agency in the Middle East were in Jordan and Yemen."

Is it so hard to say that they took a headline, grabbed an incorrect amount, didn't understand the location, took the item and created an incorrect scenario for what it was being used for to cause outrage? It truly makes me not want to trust literally anything said if you can't just say "I f'ed up, but we still think American's at home need these funds more, and that the debt is a huge issue and we shouldn't be providing aid around the world with an unbalance budget". Instead, they do backflips to try to explain that the embarrassing misunderstanding was truly correct, and everyone questioning it, they are the unreasonable one.
Did you listen to the clip? He says he was wrong about it going to Gaza but he still isn’t sure we should be shelling out millions to any country. Not when we have Flint, East Palestine, Maui, WNC, California, etc. I thibk most Americans agree with that. Not to mention the deficit soaring into the heavens.
I also think this is a way to keep us divided. We are arguing over where it was sent, not whether it was sent. We are debating if it was all condoms or just partially. Fact is we shouldn’t be involved in any of that when we have a mess at home. It’s wasteful. And not one Americans life will be impacted for the better. I live 20 minutes from Lake Lure, it looks like a war zone in a third world country. There’s cars in the rivers, houses erased. Could that 50mm be useful there?. Just my personal opinion.

In other words if Washington came to the American people and said we want to use your tax dollars for HIV prevention in Africa what do you think the response would be? It would’ve never been approved but now you’re mad we found it????
Ask JFK, ask Reagan, ask the Bushes and every other president that understood why it's important for us to help struggling nations by providing aid. Ask epidemiologists why it's good for us to stop potential pandemics in their tracks before they get to our border. Then ask yourself why Trump is the only one that doesn't give a f about anything other than what benefits him alone.

We've had a roaring economy before Trump and my own company just had a record breaking year that even exceeded our greatest expectations. If we had continued with his plans, including the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, we wouldn't have had to damage every sector of the government the way we're doing now.
Are you telling me that destroying the federal government, including things like national parks, the arts and medical research is benefitting us? Are you telling me that tariffs, which are just taxes on American citizens, is benefitting us? Are you telling me that running up our debt another 4.5 T will benefit us? What he's doing now is radical and harming millions and there is no good plan to address the fallout. And no, the cuts they're making are only a drop in the bucket and not worth the price that everyone else will pay.

I agree. There should be complete transparency when it comes to all of this. I think that’s what is so jarring. Most people I know are confused by this. They don’t seem to be able to separate aid from waste. Lots of, well it’s in the budget. Just because it’s something that we’ve been doing doesn’t mean it’s right.

I’ll give you an example. A home inspector doesn’t need a degree but he needs to be licensed. That’s just a standard requirement for that job. They don’t allow people to inspect homes or lower requirements because they belong to a certain racial or ethnic group. Everyone can agree on that. It’s a relatively easy job and anyone can do it.

I just told s lady working in a oil change shop today who said she was going to tech for diesel mechanic that she was making a great decision
Was joining the Army upon graduation.
I suggested her asking to be a helicopter or tank mechanic.
So we need to have lots of skilled workers and not just college educated

AI is not going to teach and individual how to problem solve and think critically for themselves. It’s not going to teach them or deconstruct an argument in such a manner that enables them to understand and empathize with all sides of said argument, even the ones they disagree with. It’s not going to teach them proper soft skills such as leadership, collaboration, and a basic “reading of the room”. Those are the sort of things that can only come with a proper education.
AI is an excellent facilitator for many things, but it’s not a silver bullet to anything. If the people using it or consuming it cannot — or will not — think critically for themselves and stand on their own two feet, then whatever they produce with AI will be of subpar quality, comparatively speaking. And that’s not to mention the fact that thoughtless use of AI would almost certainly bite them in the backside at some point. Don’t forget the old George Orwell quote: “If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them.”
