No. If you look at the Treasury secretary Bessent he said the following a couple weeks ago.
Asset prices are high so I don't think equity prices are a good barometer of our performance. I think the 10y yield will be a better barometer. If we focus on getting that lower the rest will take care of itself.
Additionally, Elon said that the 30y should start to come down as the DOGE savings are recognized and giving more credibility to the dollar. This jives with what i deem expected behavior.
THe primary objective of DOGE is to lower inflation. That is the end result that we are looking for. End inflation, stimulate growth.

Just think the amounts they've actually saved so far don't scratch the surface of enough to actually affect anything (top 5 previously posted savings were all removed since they were misleading). And the tax cuts are set to add to the deficit. So hard to fully buy this at the moment.
It would be interesting to see how many "farmers" actually farm their acreage. I was surprised years ago to learn that these "farmers" were actually leasing their land to big conglomerates like Pioneer seed. Were the subsidies just another way to benefit big business?

Do you remember before the election when Project 2025 was in the news and polling showed it was exremely unpopular, including among Republicans? The outrage was so loud that Trump disavowed knowing anything about it and said he didn't agree with it, but now that it's being enacted by the book, those same Republicans are suddenly fine with it?
You don't think they have concerns about the firing of 6000 veterans, including essential services that impact them and other services that impact poor people in red states? Republicans thought Project 2025 was extremely unpopular because it was someone else's agenda, not Trumps. It's not that they didn't like everything that was in Project 2025, it was just that it was someone else trying to control the narrative and that isn't what we wanted.

That fits me. I didn't care about project 2025. I was more interested in what Trump/his campaign said. I thought that he tried to accomplish things his first term and he actually did accomplish the main thing to me which was to control our souther border. I thought that he would do better at doing what he said during 2.0 so that's what I focused on.

Short term there's a lot of chaos and hate being thrown - mostly because of the chaotic nature of the process. But once results start to show up, it'll be a 180. No one on the left seriously believes DOGE and Trump admin will get rid of corruption, waste, and layers upon layers of bureaucracy.
Once those results start flowing through, it'll likely cripple the party to the point of no return.
These are the dying gasps of a party that nearly deleted the 1st amendment during COVID, covered up the cognitive decline of the president, covered up the insanity at the border, and forced one of the least popular candidates in history through a primary without a democratic process - amongst other gigantic failings.

They have to start actually showing results. My mother in law, why is very conservative, is very concerned about the cuts. I've actually seen some posts on the local Baptist Church Facebook page asking for prayers for a member who is a Chaplain with the VA who has been fired as part of DOGE, those folks were pissed, and they are very,very pro Trump.
It all sounds great, until it starts to effect you or people that you know.
I think the strategy is to cut aggressively early. 1) Needs to be done 2) Needs time to work 3) 2 years until mid-terms.
The 2 years until mid-terms allows time for results to show and voters to forget the pain that some will go through. They are getting a 7 month paid severance. They have plenty of time to find a new job. Obama, Clinton, Bush all trimmed the federal workforce. This type of things happens all the time in the private sector, it's not that unusual.
No one is celebrating the individual losing their job. But we are celebrating the inefficiencies being cut. There will be some overlap there. But they got a fair severance package and time to get back on their feet.
I think a lot of Americans, republicans and democrats, are going to appreciate the results of Government efficiencies. If the results are good, its going to be very difficult for Democrats to run against in the future if all they do is kick and scream about the program.
My honest opinion is that Democrats like DOGE they are just pissed they didn't do it when they were in power. If they had done it while they were in power, they could have made the cuts their way. Instead they elected Joe Biden and forced Kammy on yall.
Democrats need a leader to have a come to Jesus talk with their voters. Their brand is taking heavy damage right now. They need a leader to coalesce around. Who will step up? Shapiro?

If he loses enough people such as the local Baptist Church he is going to lose his majority in the House and Senate and nothing else of his agenda will get accomplished. I also think having Musk as the front line face is going to backfire since Musk does not come off well at all for most people. He's a dick without much charm, and his personal life is awful.
I don't disagree at all about Democrats and their need to recalibrate and move back towards the middle. They also need some new leaders who can present new ideas and goals. We need some younger leadership in both parties.

Today, probationary employees across NOAA and NWS(National Weather Service), including those in mission-essential roles, are being terminated. This is at places like the EMC(modeling center), Tsunami Warning Centers, Storm Prediction Center, the Hurricane Center, and local forecast offices. Many centers and offices had already lost people close to retirement with the early buyout programs.
Many of these centers and offices have been understaffed and underfunded for a long time already. Including locally, us not being able to add a local public Doppler radar which we have been working on since 2012. We can all agree we want to reduce fraud, waste, and be more efficient, but there is too much throwing the baby out with the bath water in these cases. I fear this will cause those that remained to be even more overworked and result in reduced services, including weather data that we all rely on to check the radar, satellite, and for me personally to build forecasts for you.
I don't have an easy answer but I want you to know what's happening in case you see things not working like they have in the past. None of this should be political and this post is not meant to be. The NWS was and is the most popular Federal agency and one of the few things both sides of the political spectrum all supported. I work closely with my colleagues at NOAA/NWS and I can't do my job without their help. Let's hope this gets reversed.
