Dept. of Government Efficiency - Elon/Vivek leading DOGE

How curious. Changing the award from $400k to $400m, if true, is laughably shady.

I think you will see the 10y yield continue to trend lower and this will stimulate the economy. This is due to DOGE and the savings it is creating.

I think it's convenient that anything good that happens with the economy from here forward you'll be able to say "This is due to DOGE and the savings it is creating."

No. If you look at the Treasury secretary Bessent he said the following a couple weeks ago.

Asset prices are high so I don't think equity prices are a good barometer of our performance. I think the 10y yield will be a better barometer. If we focus on getting that lower the rest will take care of itself.

Additionally, Elon said that the 30y should start to come down as the DOGE savings are recognized and giving more credibility to the dollar. This jives with what i deem expected behavior.

THe primary objective of DOGE is to lower inflation. That is the end result that we are looking for. End inflation, stimulate growth.

Sure sure. I hear you. I want savings as well. Just think the amounts they've actually saved so far don't scratch the surface of enough to actually affect anything (top 5 previously posted savings were all removed since they were misleading). And the tax cuts are set to add to the deficit. So hard to fully buy this at the moment.

The farm industry is an industry.

support of farmers

It would be interesting to see how many "farmers" actually farm their acreage. I was surprised years ago to learn that these "farmers" were actually leasing their land to big conglomerates like Pioneer seed. Were the subsidies just another way to benefit big business?

Are you aware that there are subsidies that pay farmers NOT to plant a field?

Yes, there are farm subsidy programs in the United States that have historically paid farmers not to plant crops, though the specifics have evolved over time. One of the most well-known examples is tied to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs that began during the Great Depression to stabilize agricultural markets and support farmers. Today, this concept is most closely associated with the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), established in 1985.
Under the CRP, farmers are paid to take environmentally sensitive land out of active crop production and instead plant species that improve soil health, water quality, or wildlife habitats. Essentially, they’re compensated to "not plant" traditional crops like corn or wheat on that land. The payments are typically annual, based on rental rates for the land, and can last for 10-15 year contracts. In 2023, for example, the USDA reported that CRP enrolled about 23 million acres, with farmers receiving payments to maintain these conservation practices.
There’s also a historical precedent with programs like the Soil Bank in the 1950s and 60s, which directly paid farmers to leave land fallow to reduce surplus production. While that specific program no longer exists, the CRP is its modern equivalent in spirit, though it’s framed more around conservation than just production control.
Does that answer what you were looking for, or did you have a specific program or region in mind?

@dpic73

Ready to concede you are wrong here?

Well, well, well... Who do we have here?

These are the bottom-feeders responsible for sending Democrat plants to GOP town hall meetings to make it appear that Trump/MAGA folks are against DOGE.

Imagine being such ginormous scumbags that you use SOROS $$ to try and KNOWINGLY gaslight the country with lies.

This crap isn't going to fly - not anymore. Who TF do these bastards think they are?

Maybe the @FBI/@Kash_Patel or the @DOJ/@AGPamBondi needs to look into these creeps. They have had a free pass for too long.

Let's be crystal clear. These are actual traitors to the country, willfully conspiring with foreign enemies to undermine our Republic.

Wrong about what? Also, I don't get or trust news from Russian bots on Twitshit.

It was on fox news too. Paid protesters trying to fake unhappiness with Trump agenda.
Do you remember before the election when Project 2025 was in the news and polling showed it was exremely unpopular, including among Republicans? The outrage was so loud that Trump disavowed knowing anything about it and said he didn't agree with it, but now that it's being enacted by the book, those same Republicans are suddenly fine with it?

You don't think they have concerns about the firing of 6000 veterans, including essential services that impact them and other services that impact poor people in red states? Polling also shows that Elon is extremely unpopular so it's laughable to believe everyone showing up to those townhalls are dems from outside their district.

I think you misread the room in your first paragraph.

Republicans thought Project 2025 was extremely unpopular because it was someone else's agenda, not Trumps. It's not that they didn't like everything that was in Project 2025, it was just that it was someone else trying to control the narrative and that isn't what we wanted.

So, i think you misinterpret what happened. My $.02

That fits me. I didn't care about project 2025. I was more interested in what Trump/his campaign said. I thought that he tried to accomplish things his first term and he actually did accomplish the main thing to me which was to control our souther border. I thought that he would do better at doing what he said during 2.0 so that's what I focused on.

"About 33% of Republicans say they also view the plan negatively, with just 7% saying they have positive views of the plan, which Trump has criticized since Democrats ramped up efforts to tie him and Project 2025 together."

Voters who identify as "MAGA Republicans" reported viewing Project 2025 in a slightly more positive light, with 28% saying they held negative views and 9% saying they view the plan positively."
