I think we do. It's a great energy generation system that doesn't product greenhouse gases. Now to be fair, it does product nasty waste products, but in relatively low quantities compared to other non renewable sources. These plants are a nice bridge until we can get fusion going. Unless we drive NG prices up by exporting more LNG, then cycling and load following NG plants are more economical than coal or nuclear.

That reason and the environmental cost of cleaning coal emissions along with cost of construction and waste handling of nuclear is why we aren't seeing coal and nuclear. Modular nuclear could change that in the future, though.

Thanks for the info. I'll defer to your understanding of it. I have a very elementary grasp of nuclear energy, but i do love reading educated people discuss the pros/cons/benefits/hurdles/etc of implementing/expanding it in the US.
