He whined on and on at his news conference today about how Harris wants to close coal plants and that we won’t have any electricity if she becomes president.

According to this story: Record High Coal Plant Closures, more coal plants were closed in 2020 (when Trump was president) than during the Obama administration.

And how many nuclear power plants were built during the Trump administration? None.

Trump is a fraud.

He can’t run from his record as president.

Under the Biden Administration, we are producing more U.S. oil than in any time in our history.

Average build time ranges from 10-20 years but Trump didn’t build one during his 4 years. Herp derp.

Yes, it takes time. How many were started under Trump? Answer is the same: Zero.

So suddenly he is going to jump start nuclear plants? The reason coal plants were shut down is more power was being created from renewable energy than coal.

Face it: Trump is an idiot.

Yes. He is an idiot because he didn’t build a nuclear plant in 4 years when it takes an average of 19 years to complete one in the United States (but only 5 in S Korea)

Solid logic. Definitely thread worthy.

Under Trump’s administration, construction of a new nuclear plant never started. And coal plants were closed in record numbers.

Meanwhile, under Biden, we are producing more U.S. oil than at any time in history.

None. But Trump is the one saying how bad the next administration will be regarding electricity and he did absolutely nothing in his 4 years. In fact, coal plants declined and renewables went up. Now all he does is complain about wind power.
So you started a thread to complain about Trump not starting a nuclear plant, but 1) it's not a possible timeline and 2) Your party did nothing either.

Evidently everyone claiming it would be the end of democracy, that he would be some kind of dictator/authoritarian potus who would ditch nato, hand ukraine to russia, etc forgot he was potus for four years since none of that happened either.

You tell me?

We pay $.14/kw here in SC and that seems to be a fair rate.
I think we do. It's a great energy generation system that doesn't product greenhouse gases. Now to be fair, it does product nasty waste products, but in relatively low quantities compared to other non renewable sources. These plants are a nice bridge until we can get fusion going. THAT'S the holy grail of energy generation.

Need to do what France does and recycle 96% of their reactor waste. Even then, the amount of waste generated from nuclear reactors is miniscule compared to all other forms.

The problem is that we need very little baseloaded generation. Unless we could cycle nuclear or do auto generation control, none of which we can do at this time, nuclear and large coal is not that viable in the market. Natural gas fired generation drives the market for energy...sets the market prices. It's the cheapest fuel source. Unless we drive NG prices up by exporting more LNG, then cycling and load following NG plants are more economical than coal or nuclear.

That reason and the environmental cost of cleaning coal emissions along with cost of construction and waste handling of nuclear is why we aren't seeing coal and nuclear. Modular nuclear could change that in the future, though.

My understanding is France has different electrical load shape characteristics than the US. So makes market different.

There were road blocks, people and laws, that he didn't know how to circumvent last time. Now he's learned and will have nationalists groups of various ilk helping him navigate it. This time, he will erode all protocols and processes that he can legally, and he'll push to change as many laws as he can that suit he, his family, and the would be leaders purpose of never leaving office. There will be executive orders galore and continuous battles with congress.

He probably won't be able to change the constitution yet due to state ratification requirements, but eventually there will be a "national emergency" concocted, rights and elections suspended, and the courts will wade through numerous challenges. This will drag out for quite awhile, while he and the nationalists figure out their next move, and people (they hope) get used to the new reality. As he told Georgia in 2020, just find a reason to postpone and let me take it from there.

They were surprised by him losing and how close they came to circumventing the system last time. They weren't prepared. Now they have a plan. But, just my opinion on how to take over a country.

Except he had 4 years to do all that and didn't

Thanks for the info. I'll defer to your understanding of it. I have a very elementary grasp of nuclear energy, but i do love reading educated people discuss the pros/cons/benefits/hurdles/etc of implementing/expanding it in the US.

This is utterly stupid on so many levels. First, if he wasn't aware how the govt operated when he won the election, it probably didn't take long to figure that out. He had four years to make whatever changes he wanted to make and didn't even try to anything like whatever it is you have in mind. Second, even if your twilight zone hyperbole were true, the pandemic would have been the absolutely perfect excuse for a "national emergency" for him to do whatever it is you think he could do under those conditions. He literally had exactly what you say he will try to manufacture. It was even at the end of his term at the perfect time. It's was the best excuse/justification since pearl harbor, lol.

The utter idiocy of the left and people like you that completely ignore the things that actually happened to concoct some asinine what if scenario is amazing. You have to think he either thought he would win the next election(in 2020) and would have at least started on his plan to take over the world in the later half of his first term, or believe he thought might not win the next election and would have done everything he could to make it happen before his term was up. There really is no other logical assumption. The FACTS and history tell you he did absolutely none of what you speak of. It's amazing people like you can actually dress and feed yourself on a daily basis.

It's quite a paradox, for how can the idiot recognize the idiot?

My worry is that the private contractors tapped to build the nuclear plants will simply not ever give a fvck about anything other than deadlines & profits, with no sense of responsibility to the general public.

Spot on! And he knows all that, they're in full scale cognitive dissonance mode now.

I suspect that eventually scenario would come no later than the end of March 2025.

Part of that plan will include a domestic terror attack in D.C. They'll blame it on antifa when in reality it will be Mike Flynn's private army. Flynn, btw, is definitely Qanon. There's just no way it's not him.

I can't help that you're stupid and can't comprehend the possibility. Ironically, I remember discussing possibilities similar to this in a political science class at Clemson a century ago.

This bullshit again?

Dude, you and I have gone round and round on this same subject several times and you just refuse to acknowledge the obvious.
  • Trump coveted being re-elected more than anything else in his last term and never stopped campaigning for it - he won't have that to worry about this time so he will care even less about good behavior.
  • In his last term, he had cabinet members with a moral compass like Kelly and Mike Pence. JD Vance has already said he wouldn't have certified the election like Pence did and you can be sure his next cabinet won't get in the way of any of his devious plans.
  • We already have a handbook with how things will play out with Project 2025 and he can deny it all he wants but his Project 47 and the RNC are similarly aligned with the plan. We know thousands have already been vetted to displace government employees that they deem insufficiently loyal and they're even being vetted by a litmus test question that asks if they believe the election was stolen.
  • In his last term, even though he was batshit crazy, he still didn't use extreme rhetoric like "we pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country." These types of statements are clearly meant to dehumanize the opponent so he will feel justified in taking extreme actions against them.
He's more unhinged than he's ever been and seems to be spiraling into madness, so why would anyone expect anything but insanity if he takes office again? Again, what he did LAST term has no bearing on what he will do in the NEXT.

Open your damn eyes

Put down the pipe man. So you have to be at least 120ish if you were discussing that at Clemson a century ago, right. This about as believable as you other post.

You even pointed out that there is no way he is going to change the constitution even if he wants to do everything in your vivid imagination. Without that ability, none of what you fear is possible. You still believe in the tooth fairy, don't you?

Nothing like spewing the MSM narrative over and over again. You are your liberal party did everything to prevent his re-election including Covid and stealing the election and succeeded. Y'all have since doubled down with garbage accusations, indictments, convictions, etc. Only 4 weeks ago, y'all tried to end his life and it's hardly talked about. Why???? We know. Instead, you ran off your sharp as a tack President and have gone all in on Kamala which was hated by your party a few weeks ago. She's literally the worst candidate in presidential history. Not shocking, it's all fake, smoke and mirrors. You know it and so does everyone that you align with. Would love to know why y'all are so afraid???

I hope you are correct with your last point, the evil needs to be rooted out. If that happens, your job posting garbage all day will go away.
Good luck in November. You are going to need it, unless DJT is no longer an option, or it's stolen again. I pray that is not the case but sadly at this point I wouldn't be surprised.
