Of course there is fraud, there is probably lots of inefficiencies and outdated systems. The point has never been that we didn't want it fixed, the point was that all of the rhetoric wasn't matching the truth. That seems to be what DOGE is admitting with these numbers.
Hmmm putting aside the $4+T tax cut, since the estimate is a loss of $500B in lost tax revenues due to the cuts at the IRS…does this really mean that the quest for efficiency really going cost (not save) us $350B?

The pushback has been due to the fact of Musk being in charge of it and the conflicts of interest, as well as the constant exaggeration and politicization.
Calling items voted on by Congress fraud, and claiming you've saved trillions of dollars when it's in the billions and dropping, doesn't give me anymore confidence that it's not being done completely for political gotcha points.
Add on top of it firing thousands of employees and gutting government services, so that we can then give a tax break we can't afford is ridiculous.

To your point, Biden actually expanded the IRS workforce so they could properly go after the multitudes of people/entities who shirk their proper tax responsibilities, but of course the DOGE bros took a flamethrower to staff and lost us $350B in the process.
