I’m just your average joe here, but here are my thoughts on things turning around sooner rather than later.
-warmer weather ahead (hopefully curves this some)
-treatment options showing positive signs
-better/more efficient testing and quicker results
-trump putting the economy first
All of these things combined could help us turn around faster. If these combo of drugs or plasma transfers help mitigate symptoms, this virus could put much less strain on our hospitals. Then it would not matter quiet as much if you contracted it. Like the flu that has bad effects, but the world doesn’t shut down over. I feel like a vaccine is a long way off, but treatment could mix this quick. It will still spread, but people won’t be as afraid. I’m pretty naive but that’s how I see it.

One of my best friends died of cancer during the last recession because he lost his job, didn't have insurance, and couldn't go to the doctor. By the time he did, it was too late. On the other hand, I don't know anyone who has even been diagnosed with the chinese coronavirus, much less died.

The math is valid but dependent on the input. With more testing and now effective treatments plus the consideration that many of the initial infected areas were in funeral homes skewed the mortality rate. None of us know today what the numbers will be, but the trend is actually to a number lower than 1%.

You aren't wrong, but it's between 2% and 3% now, so I was already conservative. Also, the healthcare systems will be overloaded before we get treatments available to everyone. That means we will probably spike from 2%-3% to 4%-5% before it comes back down (probably even lower than your predicted rate once we have a vaccine)

I'm not a doom and gloom guy, far from it even, I am a numbers guy. I am probably overly optimistic in my analysis from a math perspective.
