FPOTUS Trump attempted assassination…

That’s why you don’t have a person named Kimberly as director of the Secret Service
Yeah... Sometimes you need to inject outside blood into an organization. However, it appears that what has happened is that the goal was to change the makeup of the people without regard to the demands of the job...

Whenever you take the focus off of being the best candidate first, you start weakening the org.

I have dramatically increased the diversity of all levels of my current org. However, there was never a question of whether the right person was hired. The key is making sure the pool of candidates is open to all comers, then letting the cream rise to the top.

Well done @Whenry Well done.

Truer words have never been spoken or written.
I read she was on Biden’s detail when he was VP. Weren’t you as well? Did you work with her closely?

Yes. She was one of my ASAICs (Assistant Special Agent in Charge) for 2 years. She worked under my supervision and direction.

Nice enough lady, fit in VERY well over with Dr. Biden and her staff…that’s who handpicked her for her current position.

But she couldn’t LEAD five Cub Scouts through a Costco.

So now we know one of the many who are currently calling the shots that run the country.

B/C we know it ain't Joe, and hasn't been for some time...

Would make sense that they didn’t want to put a fixed position on a sloped roof because they didn’t need to,. Objective was secure the feature, not operate from it. Sounds like local cops didn’t understand/weren’t told clearly enough that “secure building XY” meant making sure no one was on top of it instead of making sure no one was inside it. Honestly it’s admirable that USSS is publicly standing in front of this vs letting the county cops who had a big role in the fiasco get all of the heat.

.223 is usually around 3000 feet per second. Not even clove to subsonic. And shaking my head at crappy. If you’ve ever examined a wound channel from one, they are utterly devastating with a proper bullet. I trust them implicitly within 100 yards on deer, so 2-300 yards would be plenty within its range on a much softer human. Where are you getting your info? This was our primary weapon in Vietnam.
Could be interpreting what he is saying incorrectly, but I believe he means that if the round has been loaded so that it is subsonic. At that point it is pretty useless. Thus the response about 300 BO. from another user. The point of making it subsonic is to reduce it's sound signature. Pretty much no one does that for 223 due to the poor ballistics. Not sure the shooter had the knowledge or skills to try something like that or the point in such endeavor when there are better options.

Apparently, she serves as Den Mother frequenting the same Costco I do as it is always a Charlie Foxtrot.

Thank you for taking the time to respond in this thread.

He’s saying 5.56 with subsonic loads sucks, and it does. 5.56 needs big velocities to be an effective round and there’s a reason why it’s the longest tenured combat load in the world at 2800+ fps.
There are no off the shelf subsonic 5.56 loads that I know of. Hell, to get .300 BO subsonic, I had to use a 220 grain bullet, with a minimal charge, AND shoot it from a pistol platform. I’d be grateful if you could find me a subsonic 5.56 recipe, sucky as it surely would be. Maybe just a primer would do it.

Have some Army buddies that were augmenting USSS on the Biden/ Dr. Biden details back when he was VP.

I'll just say they had a "different" experience than other details they had been assigned to. And it wasn't related to political views of the protectee.

How the hell does ANYONE not notice a damn ladder leaning up against the building?? She says the building had been swept and was cleared?? My God, I'm not a military guy or even a security guard, but how does this happen?? And once they finally started surveilling him (the USSS snipers), why did they not surround Trump and take him to the car until the building was secured??

This may be a ridiculously unfortunate chain of bad decisions, but damn it smells like rotting fish...

Just trying to make the point that 5.56/ .223 as a subsonic round is kinda like huffing fairy farts. It may be possible, but no one should do it. .223 in general is extremely effective. I think we are in agreement there.

God bless America.

Not inept at all, just not trained specifically for protectee detail and no experience doing it either. The USSS drills, I would imagine, these exact scenerios until they can do it in their sleep. That's their whole mission.

So there's going to be a drop off in situational awareness with local law enforcement. That doesn't mean they aren't effective cops.
I can agree to an extent but this was over the top bad in multiple crucial points. If this is the norm then it needs to be redone from scratch. Either that or defend potus and major candidates with active military.

From interview on ABC via FOX :
The head of the Secret Service has revealed that the shooter who tried to kill former President Trump was identified as a "potential person of suspicion," but by the time units were able to track him down, he had managed to open fire at the rally in Pennsylvania.

United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle made the remark in an interview that aired on ABC News just hours after Fox News Digital reported that a local law enforcement officer spotted a suspicious man carrying a range-finder just 30 minutes before Saturday’s attempted assassination in Butler.

That officer reported the sighting to state police, a law enforcement source said. He took a photo, and there was a discussion about whether what he was carrying was a pair of binoculars to try and see the rally better. But then a few minutes into Trump's remarks, the would-be assassin — identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 — began shooting, according to authorities.

"I'm being told that the shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion. Units started responding to seek that individual out," Cheatle told ABC News. "Unfortunately, with the rapid succession of how things unfolded, by the time that individual was eventually located, they were on the rooftop and were able to fire off at the former president."

Cheatle acknowledged in the interview that responsibility for the security failure that led to the attempted assassination of Trump ultimately rests with herself.

"The buck stops with me," Cheatle said, adding that "This is an event that should have never happened."

Cheatle also told ABC News her first reaction to the shooting was "shock."

She said the Secret Service was aware of the security vulnerabilities presented by the building Crooks took a sniper's position on to aim at Trump. However, a decision was made not to place any personnel on the roof.

"That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside," she said.
She went from Secret Service to Pepsi and back to Secret Service as the Director.

She's not qualified for the position imo, esp with her handling and remarks over this incident. Sorry.

May be the stupidest thing ever said by a head of the secret service. Seriously sounds like something the dang VP would say. My word these two give women a bad rep

So in all honesty (if you can and/or will give your opinion)... how did she end up in the position she is in?

By being in other positions? Bc of woke culture?

It seems as if you have a strong opinion that she shouldn't be in charge... so how and why did it happen? Who makes that decision?

@24TIGER do you know this guy? Isn’t he a guy that worked on O’Bama’s team?
Bongino is a QAnon grifter. He lies as easily as he breathes. He may have credible experience here but you can bet he’s slanting anything he’s saying to generate traffic and engagement from his core audience.

Of course the director is not going to let a bunch of info fly right at the beginning of what will be a months long investigation and larger ops review. Most of what they learn should probably never be made public because of the nature of what they do. You don’t tell your adversaries what you found when you were self scouting.

Spot on. U know your stuff.

Only an embicile would give up high ground. She should be toast bit won't happen.

Sure hope Trump gets his own security when elected, he's going to need it.

No.

USSS has the assets that no one else has.

Did the USSS drop the ball on Saturday?

Absolutely.

Private security? That’s laughable.

I realize the public is upset (and rightfully so) but the USSS record of keeping protectee’s safe (over DECADES) speaks for itself.

And all of these experts crying for heads…how about YOU stepping up to the plate?

USSS is always looking for super qualified candidates. Seems to be a bunch out there.

I reiterate…the USSS royally screwed up, but the overall record speaks for itself.

Go Tigers!!

Did you hear the director's comment in sloped roof? That's an absurd excuse. How does she still have a job after this?

Im just thinking that combat experience should be a pre-req for all of the ‘rifle’ operations like counter sniper and CAT.

Im certain someone with combat experience would be able to develop a plan then see that its carried out…secure the building then no one in our out with officers monitoring it with adequate line of sight with one another etc…I mean just thinking about military strategy with regards to watching the flank right?

Like you stated earlier, 6,4” protectee can’t be adequately protected by even 6’ me, much less 5’5” ‘Brittany’.

Its a reminder of just how hard it is to be 100% accurate. Not 99.9999%, but 100%.

Now, Iran? Thats a scary thought.

After her statement about not putting someone on the AGR building because of a slight slope, your comment makes complete sense.

The real tragedy in all this ridiculous DEI crap is that the overpromoted, under qualified ones give the good ones a bad name. To be sure, there are good ones. So far it appears that she ain't one of them.

Question….just saw this info posted on FOX. What’s the significance of a transmitter? Any? Used for what? Communication? If so, with who?
