I want to see black men, women, boys and girls have more opportunities to thrive. But that whole policy, just wreaks of a racist group coming to the conclusion that blacks are inferior for some reason. As if, blacks can't compete.
Notice this is a bunch of whites, most who have no familiarity with any blacks, coming to these conclusions. It's disgusting and wreaks of ignorance. What a racist and condescending point of view. Get a clue Wisconsin!

Makes you sad to see how stupid kids are today, especially those who aren't even paying for their own education in college.
Absolutely ridiculous. They aren't and weren't slaves. Neither were their parents. EARN a full ride if you want one. Earn financial aid and scholarships if you want them.

I don't think lack of diversity at Wisconsin is due to restricted opportunities. It's cold. Black folks are not in Wisconsin. I kid.
Seriously tho. I know a lot of black folks. About 99% of my family is black. I have a ton of black friends. A ton of both educated and uneducated black friends. I've been involved with tons of conversations and work concerning improvements in the area of education. In all my years I've never once heard anyone suggest free education based on race. My problem is there will be a large vocal group that will turn this into a "what do they want next" discussion as if this request came from black folks. That entire article and idea is stupid.

This is a student group asking for this......students ask for a lot of stupid things. I highly doubt the University is taking this seriously. My best guess is that they will get a nice form letter saying that the University is committed to diversity and offers excellent opportunities for minorities.

Whoa, let's not make this about the black students at Wisconsin, this isn't their proverbial group request as I understand it.
IMO people need to see this less as people just losing their minds as it is people figuring out you can have a grievance for just about anything in our society and some dumbass will validate it. They are trolling to exploit for their own gain. Until we start telling people to sit down and shut the hell up, this is going to continue. There will be no end because some dummy is always going to validate these things due to their internal guilt about what the heck ever!
I can see some accommodation but Wisconsin never had segregation or slaves. I guess the theory is that the black population in Wisconsin is made op of ancestors of southern slaves. An this would be true, but Wisconsin tax payers would not be those responsible.
If I were you OP, I would have titled the thread "Free College for Coloreds"
I think the real problem is stories like this being picked up by large news organizations. People start viewing these as representing the majority of the "other" side and straw men are created. People have been saying and requesting extreme stuff for a long time. Now we have a media that will give them a lot of publicity. Its not surprising this is from Fox. Just as there's no surprise where it comes from when it's something to rile up the left.

i agree there is a bias in news, but the bigger issue is that they are lazy sensationalists that don't know what to do with a 24 hour news machine.
Push the victimology as hard as possible. Blame everyone else for your lot in life.
In the meantime, continue setting the bar as the lowest group in the nation for dropping out of school, having kids out of wedlock, and commiting crimes.

so, its not a government handout for the government to artificially prop up an industry in an effort to give jobs back to people who refuse to "earn" their new job after the free-market has marginalized their industry? asking for a friend.
