Gas Stoves

Wait, I though this was a conspiracy theory??

The conspiracy theory was that the gubment was going to take them from people who own them already. This does not apply to existing homes or new restaurants. For the record, I think people should have a choice to buy them or not, as long as they are educated on the dangers.

I was told that Politico is a fake news rag, so this is all probably untrue if that's the case.

good to see govt focusing on a life threatening issue a majority of the population has been pleading with them to address.
Some people care about dangerous fumes in their homes. I understand why glue sniffers like you wouldn't though.

The libs can take the jab several times, drive alone in a electric car with a mask on all that's fine. But can you leave our household appliances alone.

yea clearly they're very dangerous....so dangerous everyone pushing this sht happens to have a gas stove in their home just like the biggest global warming fear porn peddlers own beachfront property and they don't even power it with the solar panels they blabber on about. keep that wool pulled over your eyes though just do as they tell you.

I am hoping the government will address the warning labels on pillows and mattresses where you cannot remove the labels under penalty of law

Thank God we are being protected from that

i'd love to help this campaign but i'm potentially facing federal charges for impersonating woodsy the owl.

i was a little more concerned about congressional insider trading but i think we can understand why they needed to tackle ol woodsy impersonators first.

Imagine viewing scientific American as a partisan outlet. Holy shit.

Guy sees a story from an outlet he doesn't know that contradicts his worldview. Didn't read the story, didn't look into the outlet, but is damn sure that, since they published an article he thinks is nonsense (of course, without any scientific knowledge of his own), the magazine must be run by "the left". Absolutely insane.

Just to add to the insane lunacy the panels that solar panels contain more toxins that will devastate our environment that most chemical plants

Of course the next targets on the hydrocarbon front will be unvented propane and natural gas heaters They supposedly burn all the gas however that is not true so now the house has atmospheric burned and unburned carcinogens floating around in the house

Next based on methane gases from cows endangering earth when will humans be forced to wear gas diapers

Like there are dozens of ways stuff is in our environment

As long as it decomposes I am OK with it

Lead on you environmentalists

If you must insist on living shorter, unhealhtier lives, we'll let you own us. Just don't say we didn't try to help.

“In an ideal world, politics and health would be independent of each other and it wouldn’t matter whether one lives in an area that voted for one party or another,” says corresponding author Haider Warraich, MD, of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Brigham, in a media release. “But that is no longer the case. From our data, we can see that the risk of premature death is higher for people living in a county that voted Republican.

"Looking at that phenomenon more closely, the team found a widening gap among white residents in key areas, including heart disease and cancer. In fact, the death rate among whites was four times higher in Republican counties than in Democratic counties during the study period."

"Results show that mortality rates in Democratic counties fell from 850 for every 100,000 people in 2001 to 664 in 2019 — a drop of 22 percent. In Republican counties however, the mortality rates went from 867 per 100,000 people to 771 — a decline of just 11 percent."

Are you threatening to make us happier?
You won't be happier, you won't have my massive tax contribution to help you rip gas stoves out of houses and make the average American miserable. Maybe you'll pull yourself up by then so you can fill the gap?

Says the professional victim who willfully ignored the part that no one is taking your gas stove. I understand how life wouldn't be worth living without one, but it will be really hot where you're going so I'll place a heat diffuser upon your grave, so you'll be close to one of it's parts.

i forgot everything in life is defined by political party. since i dont have one i guess that means i live forever? when you discover what math is you might find real variables with a statistically significant r^2. you'd have to exit the world where you think the only variable that exists is political party and use irrelevant estimates to try back into anything that you think tells the story you want it too. the thing about confirmation bias is you're only confirming your story to yourself.

Who made gas stoves political? Hint, it's the party you side with on every issue, but don't worry, we won't make you believe in science. We'll happily allow you to deplete your voter pool since that's what you're hell-bent on doing.

What part of this not effecting any existing appliances are you not understanding? I'm guessing that the story isn't as good if you don't have the government "coming for your stuff". Kind of like Obama "coming for your guns"? I had a gas stove before moving to Idaho. If I lived in SC, I'd still be using it and wouldn't change.

The point of the story was that the libs on here (and apparently you now also) said it was all one big conspiracy theory and another Fox News right wing extremism talking point to distract from real issues. Then they start passing actual bills/laws and the response is "well, they will let you keep it if you have one, you just can't buy a new one"

Btw - it's not about the stove, it's about removing all things that leverage natural gas. Now why would they want to do that?

What 3 or 4 appliances are the biggest drivers for natural gas lines into a home? Stove, Dryer, Hot Water heater, furnace.......are they going to start putting restrictions on the others also?

That article is all over the place, quotes "decades of material research" but only cites "the last 10 years" as being valid/relevant.

"Most of the studies on the health effects of cooking gas have been observational because it would obviously be unethical to intentionally expose children to environmental risks, says Ulrike Gehring, an associate professor at the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and a co-author of the 2013 meta-analysis. Still, some past studies have measured NO2 concentrations in various indoor settings and have shown that people with asthma have more severe symptoms when they’re exposed to higher levels of the gas. Although observational studies cannot prove that cooking with gas causes asthma,Gehring says, accounting for other risk factors such as parental asthma and secondhand tobacco smoke “increases our confidence” that it does."

Says above they can't prove that gas stoves cause asthma.

This is an effort to remove the need for all natural gas being fed into homes, you just have to go and read about all of the 5013c's out there with those intentions who cite the same studies, same arguments, blah blah blah. They want to end LNG, fracking, etc
