'They don't want to say it's an open border policy because it's not very popular with the American people; but it is with their base, their far left radical base,' Rep. Gimenez says of Biden and Harris

Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Gimenez said President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are intentionally not stepping up border security measures despite rising numbers of encounters of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Illegal immigration is at record levels. There were 153,941 migrant encounters this past January verses 78,414 migrant encounters in January 2021.
"I believe they know exactly what's going on and this is exactly what they want because nobody can be this dumb," Gimenez, the former mayor of Miami, told Just the News during a House GOP media availability ahead of President Biden State of the Union address.
"You can see it with your own two eyes and you can see the impact. I think it's an open border policy. That's exactly what they want, although they don't want to say it's an open border policy because it's not very popular with the American people; but it is with their base, their far left radical base. That's exactly what they want," he added.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats typically discuss immigration policy in general terms rather than differentiating between illegal immigration and legal immigration. Gimenez, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, was asked if Democrats have successfully blurred the lines between the two.
"No, because we legal immigrants, we understand exactly what's going on. As a matter of fact, you talk to legal immigrants, they're probably very much against what's happening at the border because we came in legally, and we followed the process. This is supposed to be a country of laws," he said.
"And that's one of the reasons we came here because it is a country of laws and opportunity. We didn't come here for, you know, chaos and illegality and that's exactly what's happening at the southern border. It's illegal. It's chaotic. It's really un-American," he added.

you really are on quite the run with hillary clinton supporters. for as much as you pretend to hate her you're sure in agreement with a lot of people who supported her.

There are really only two explanations. Either they are that dumb(not), or they just don't care about American lives. The left continue their assault on "assault weapons" which account for a miniscule percentage of gun deaths (also less than knives and blunt force objects) bc they think it is good political optics. At the same time, they are deadly silent on the massive amount of drugs, including fentanyl, being allowed to cross the border killing thousands of Americans. Not to mention all the criminals coming across who are murdering and raping our citizens and distributing covid+ criminals across the country at tax payer expense to spread the virus and kill even more citizens.
All the bs talk about how much they care is just that- talk. They care, but they care about politics- not the American people. Drug overdoses, with the vast majority involving fentanyl, were over 100,000 last year and were the leading cause of death for some age groups. Even if drugs coming across the border are only responsible for 1% of deaths, that is multiple times the number of deaths from so called "assault weapons". A recent ABC news article indicated te cost of drug overdoses at $1 Trillion/year. if we could reduce that by 10% from reducing drugs coming accross the border, that alone is $100B/yr. Illegal immigration costs tax payers hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars every year. Could your state use a couple Billion dollars for infrastructure, mental heath care access, job training, or a myriad of other needed scarce benefits? I know SC sure could. These are FACTS. Just because msm doesn't regurgitate them and they are not dem talking points does not make them less true - or less deadly.
