Standard liberal answer to everything - if we only had more funding everything would be great - terrible public schools, inflation during Biden’s reign that is killing the average American, border that is totally out of control, now Biden is totally pro China ( our # 1 enemy), we are at $33 trillion in debt and Biden says we just need more funding - sounds like that idiot mayor and governor that you folks elected in New Yawk!!

right, right right, got it.

When your Lord and Savior trump wants funding for the border, infrastructure, etc., it's a good thing.

When dems want more funding for the same things, it is a bad thing.

Here is your daily reminder that trump added $8T to our national debt, in FOUR ****ING YEARS.

"Our relationship with China has now probably never, ever been better. He's for China, I'm for the U.S., but other than that, we love each other." - Joe Biden

I totally agree. Biden's wrong to be so cozy with Xi.

Obama also succeeded in working against China by opening up free trade elsewhere via the TPP. Guess what genius tore up that deal.

The problem's clearly the "communist" Dems who love China and free trade lmao. These clowns are something else

Folks get ready you will be paying another tax soon. First local and then a national migrant tax for all tax payers.

Abbot ramping up the busses. This is a political nightmare for the left.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Friday that he has directed the Texas Department of Emergency Management to deploy more buses to Eagle Pass and El Paso to transport those who illegally crossed the Texas-Mexico border to Democrat-led, self-proclaimed "sanctuary cities."

The buses in Eagle Pass and El Paso are being activated in addition to the ongoing state bus operations in Brownsville, Del Rio, Laredo, and McAllen.

Frustrated with the swelling population of illegal immigrants in state and municipal governments' care, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul called on would-be border crossers to "go somewhere else."
"Never was it envisioned that this would be an unlimited universal right or obligation on the city to have to house literally [the] entire world," she said at a Sept. 20 press conference.

According to the Abbott administration, since April 2022, Texas has bused over 11,900 illegal immigrants to Washington, over 14,800 to New York City, over 8,700 to Chicago, over 3,000 to Philadelphia, over 1,500 to Denver, and most recently, 610 to Los Angeles.

It's not only buses shipping illegal migrants to other cities. Biden has secretly flown over 200k into cities around the U.S.

Those people are not "illegal immigrants". They are documented asylum seekers.

Our laws, the ones in place since Reagan, allow people to request asylum in the US. They are either immediately denied and deported (most of them), or they are allowed to request asylum and become documented migrants while their cases are pending. Some people sneak in undetected, they are illegal. Some people are granted temporary asylum and then fail to stay in contact with the immigration office. They are also illegal.

The Biden administration has been public about this program (their app) for a year. Look back at my posts, I have referenced it many times. To say it is "secret" is downright dishonest.

If you are unhappy about our current immigration laws, I recommend you call your congressperson and demand they do something about it.

His point - which is valid - is that when republicans controlled the house, senate and executive branch - as they did under trump for 2 years - they did not pass new lasting legislation on immigration. The dems suck on this subject, but the gop is mostly hot air.
There are 800 negative attributes to the way that we handle immigration today. We can easily blast off on all of that, it’s too easy. However, I want to collaborate in a glass half full, to think about, selfishly, how and if any way, it benefits the US. A method to the madness rabbit 🐰 hole 🕳️.

The one thing I keep going back to is the long standing “silent” migration. It’s always our cheap labor replacement that the Dems/Pubs benefit from. The amount of lobbying here is probably super filthy but it’s the nature of doing stupid money Capitalism. (No surprise here)

Simply need the warm body numbers
- Funding the country via new tax base
- Growing the population HERE vs “THERE”. Higher premiums made per human in USA vs less revenue in some foreign country.
- Slowed population growth rate? I can see a lot of people scared to make babies. I haven’t look at the numbers but wondering what our production rate is.

Like I said….. National defense, lawlessness, lack of standards, terrorism, drugs. The list is long.

I’m trying to apply some “positive” logic. Thoughts? What else you got?

Hello, my friend...

I am glad to hear that you support raising the minimum wage in the US? Progress!

The federal minimum wage is something like $7.50 an hour or something like that right? But even fast food workers are making a minimum of $13 an hour or something to that equivalent. The market is taking care of that problem itself. No need for government intervention.

If we keep out the illegal immigrants and the supply of illegal labor that will force wages to go higher naturally.

I disagree. Here is an analysis of data by the very conservative CATO institute.

Conclusion

Our research produced two broad results. First, when Borjas’s methods are extended a few years, the wage elasticity of immigration is −0.2 rather than −0.3 to −0.4. Second, Borjas’s assumption of perfect worker substitutability within cells cannot be correct as the wages of men and women both increased as women entered the workforce from 1960 to 2010. Empirical methods that relax the two assumptions described above likely lead to estimates that more accurately describe the impacts of immigration on native wages and that are either very small or zero (Ottaviano and Peri 2012, Ortega and Verdugo 2014).

Its simple economics. If there is less supply of labor the wages must go up. Even you know this.

Except, I just posted data analysis that disputes what you know. From the conservative CATO institute.

Its not about feelings. It's about facts.

Well there are facts and theory. You don't have facts because it hasn't been done. Economic theory does not care who performs any study.

Economic theory states that if you reduce the supply of labor then the wage must increase. It doesn't matter what any study says and it doesn't matter who produces the study. Less labor = higher wage. Econ 101

Did you read the study and what data they used?

I'm not reading a study whose results violate basic economic theory. Why would i waste my time?

Pay someone enough money and they will produce a study to say what you want it to say. I couldn't care less if its a liberal or conservative study. A shit study is a shit study.

Then you are lost. You basically won't believe any evidence that does not confirm your original beliefs or bias.

Good day @OleFastball

Governor Abbott is so stupid he doesn't even know how to walk. His opinions about everything must logically therefore also be handicapped.

Democrats dont run on immigration. Republicans do.

That said, there is a bipartisan immigration reform bill currently congress called the Dignity Act. Several senators have said they will champion it as well if it passes the house.

It is very unlikely that McCarthy will vote on it. it does not include funding for a border wall. Republicans cannot do anything to upset their maga king.
So in your opinion, is immigration reform important? If so, then the government, which constitutionally derives its power from the people should hold it important as well. The argument that "Democrats dont run on immigration" does not hold water when there is a crisis at the border. It would be like someone saying, "we don't have a preference," and then criticising someone that does or attempts to correct an issue. Also, a border wall is almost a necessity at this point. Ask the folks in our states that border Mexico, as long as there is an open boarder there will be illegals attempting to get in and those willing to exploit them for political and financial gain.
