Grocery cost question

Oh no, both will happen. Inflation will come down, and so will grocery prices.

CPI will be gauge for inflation and I’m sure you have noted that it was at about 3.5% for the last year and reached a high of 9% under Joe Biden

What is your preferred measuring stick for grocery prices? put them in this thread so we can come back and revisit it one year from now.
Why are you still in this thread. As OP I've told you to stay out.

Down means down, not under a ROI we already have. If you want to keep a spreadsheet of prices in different food categories, knock yourself out but since we know you're not one to be completely trusted, if those numbers start to look shady, we expect you to have corroborating evidence...like a screen shot of price tags perhaps.
No, how about an economic gauge.

Are you telling me you have been bitching about grocery prices for a year now but don’t even know how to measure the prices ?

LOL, so the goalposts have moved from lowering prices to keeping inflation under 5%, where it's been for a couple years now?
Trump will be graded at the mid terms. He is going to do his thing for the next 2 years and lets see what happens.

They won’t put a metric out there to measure grocery prices because they don’t like accountability. One year from now grocery prices will be lower.

Joe has been ****ing it up for 4 years.

Trump has been in office 2 days and I already saw BOGO deals at the grocery store. They are already lower
WOWZA! I haven't seen those in a long time - except every time I've been in the grocery store the last few years.........

What is your measure for grocery prices.

Put the starting point so we can come back and see if they go up or down.

What’s your starting point?

This was a joke right?
Yes, it was a joke at the expense of @firegiver and @dumbpic.

They recognize that a large part of why Joe Biden and Kammy lost re-election was their inability to stop general inflation and more specifically food inflation.

Despite their claimed expertise and knowledge, they have no idea on how to measure whether prices go up or down. They just want to complain. Anyway, im just trying to get them to give us a starting point so we can check back in a year and see who was right. They refuse to produce any metric or starting point. Hence my joke that Trump has already brought down prices in 2 days because i saw bogo's.

These two clowns refuse to be held accountable. I'll help them out. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics puts out a report called CPI every month and you can track the prices of food. Below is the latest report so we can reference a year from now and show these two clowns how to bring down inflation.

Food

The index for food increased 0.3 percent in December, after rising 0.4 percent in November. The food at home
index also rose 0.3 percent over the month. Four of the six major grocery store food group indexes increased in
December. The index for cereals and bakery products rose 1.2 percent over the month, after falling 1.1 percent in
November. The meats, poultry, fish, and eggs index increased 0.6 percent in December, as the eggs index rose 3.2
percent. The index for other food at home rose 0.3 percent over the month and the index for dairy and related
products increased 0.2 percent.

The nonalcoholic beverages index fell 0.4 percent in December, after rising 1.5 percent the previous month. The
index for fruits and vegetables declined 0.1 percent over the month, after rising 0.2 percent in November.

The food away from home index rose 0.3 percent in December, as it did in November. The index for limited service
meals rose 0.4 percent over the month and the index for full service meals rose 0.2 percent.

The index for food at home rose 1.8 percent over the last 12 months. The meats, poultry, fish, and eggs index
rose 4.2 percent over the last 12 months and the nonalcoholic beverages index increased 2.3 percent. Over the
same period, the index for other food at home rose 0.8 percent and the index for fruits and vegetables increased
1.0 percent. The dairy and related products index increased 1.3 percent over the year and the cereals and bakery
products index rose 0.8 percent over the same period.

The food away from home index rose 3.6 percent over the last year. The index for limited service meals increased

It's clear you didn't read the paper either.

People that don't think tariffs don't work should read the incoming economic advisors paper and tell us why they disagree with him.

You can even have AI read the paper for you.
Can you define 'don't work' for us? Because I think your understanding of 'it works' is influenced mid thought by , well I don't know why you get so easily distracted'. Anyway, what is 'it works' mean to you when you say tariffs work?

Because, as it has already been outlined by people, like me, when you invoke a tariff you are ensuring a new tax to the consumer. That is a new cost on the consuming of goods. The propaganda, or paper (which is not peer reviewed mind you), that you keep referencing, does not set out as its purpose to lower grocery prices, or consumer prices in America. It's stated purpose is to more benefit the great money changers IE the banks and American government in its trading of the dollar.

I know I'm not chat GPT, but there, I gave you real world context by which to understand the subject matter.

Now kindly process that, update your narrow view, and realize you've been spewing nonsense this whole time that you've made us help teach you how to clean it up. Now please stop asking us to clean up your mess. The paper DOES NOT ADDRESS THE OP ISSUE. STOP BRINGING IT UP.

How is the elected administration going to do what it was elected to? LOWER PRICES FOR THE CONSUMER?

Work is defined in the paper which you still haven’t read.

It is defined as making the tariffed nation less wealthy.

In other words. It has nothing to do with lowering grocery prices. So please stop bringing it up in this thread.

So, I bet you can guess my next question.
How is the current administration going to lower grocery prices?

No wonder you guys lost and you keep asking "how?" in every thread. 🤡

@firegiver er

Here is your answer, again, for the 10,000th time.

We are going to unleash the economic giant that is America. That is how we are going to do it. Since you don’t understand, just sit on the sidelines and watch.

Tariffs raise inflation the paper doesn't dispute this. You are wrong saying it lowers inflation. Stop making me clean up your mess.
