Highest poverty rate by state - what do they have in common?

Really? I will. Let’s start with LBJ, Jesse Jackson, and Sharpton.
So it's your contention that the 10 poorest states in the former Confederacy are that way because of Lyndon Johnson, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton, rather than their decades long republican majority & super majority legislatures?

What's ironic is if you dive into those numbers more (you won't) its the large population centers in those states that are ran by democrats. Almost every one of those states largest cities are ran by democrats.

Oh the irony.
Lol. You guys continue to own yourselves. The rural areas are the poorest. So as bad as the cities might be in those states, they are still in better shape than the rural communities.

Below is your data. How else are you looking to make a fool of yourself today?

According to the most recent estimates from the 2019 American Community Survey (ACS), the nonmetro poverty rate was 15.4 percent in 2019, compared with 11.9 percent for metro areas. Nonmetro poverty fell 3.0 percentage points from 2013, when it reached its 30-year peak of 18.4 percent. Metro poverty rates declined at a higher rate between 2013 and 2019, causing an increase in the metro-nonmetro poverty rate gap, which was 3.5 percentage points in 2019.

Yeah, apparently they exclusively focused their efforts on those states in the Deep South and ignored anything at the national level or in northern or western states.

Yup. Hard to argue that the most conservative states also are the poorest, least educated, and most violent.

There is a reason why they hate data.

Do you see any county-level correlation here?
