Trump used the national covid emergency to shut down the border. That emergency has passed. There was a bipartisan bill that would have solved the problem, but Trump killed it.

He did that but you are conflating the covid emergency with the other stuff Trump did which worked.
Unfortunately he could not get Congress to pass any laws, which is what it will take to fix the problems at the border.
