I guess somebody had to ask.....

per the CBA they can ask sexual orientation?
Per the CBA they are allowed to discriminate, esentialy.
Its why they only hire males, its why they have age restrictions, its why they are allowed to generally do what they want regarding labor laws so long as the CBA doesnt specifically out law it.

Well, I believe the employers have a right to know in this case as it relates to locker room cohesiveness. See, believe it or not, there are still some guys that may not feel comfortable hitting the showers with some dude that may be watching them. I mean, we talk about inclusiveness & equality & all of that stuff but I still highly doubt women would want to use the same locker room as men...so the same can be said for men vs girlymen, right? This could cause some major friction within the team & could transfer to on the field play...thus damaging the product & the investment these teams made in these players.

This can't be real can it? No actual person thinks this way do they?

Gotta be an elaborate troll.

That being said, I don't think I have a problem with the question.

Teams want to see how they react in stressful and unexpected situations.

On the other hand, if the answer leads to discrimination based on sexual orientation it's a different story.

I am obviously not jimbob but do you really think guys wouldn't have a problem with a homosexual in the shower with them? I mean I'm just asking because I would feel extremely awkward personally and I just assume most heterosexual men would.

They’re trying to show they discriminate against gays so they can get the audience back that left over the anthem kneeling thing.

Because you have people like @jimbob1019 who actually care who other grown men chose to privately have sex with IMO
Why don't we just go to unisex locker rooms... That way no one can be offended in any way...

Honestly, if we are going for TOTAL INCLUSION & EQUALITY, this is the ONLY way it can be...

lol do you think homosexual men are just animals who have no control over their base instincts?

they're not gonna try to fvck you in the shower. i'm sure most players would be more than happy to have a gay guy on their team as long as he was qualified to be there. mizzou didn't seem to have much of an issue with their gay SEC defensive player of the year, who the team basically all knew was gay.

Employers get sued for asking this sh*t.
NFL teams shouldn't be allowed to ask this kind of question

The NFL has a free farm system and owns a day of the week. They don’t give two sh*ts about what they’re allowed to ask.

But I agree with you.

idk why i'm answering seriously but it's because assholes like you (in the highly unlikely scenario that you actually manage or oversee any employees) could discriminate against hiring someone on account of their sexual orientation.

No dumbass they should be allowed to ask that question. Especially since the purpose of asking it wasn't to find out if he was gay, but to see how he would react to the question.

how is it relevant for a football team? are we really ignoring the fact that, statistically speaking, there have likely been homosexuals on football teams for years?

I'm sure there have been. In fact, I know of one guy who played at Clemson and was pretty good. He's a good guy. That doesn't change the fact that somebody's sexual behavior can have an effect on locker room chemistry. But you might not know that based just on the fact that somebody's attracted to other men.

That said, if a flamboyantly gay guy is also a sure-fire star, I don't think anybody's going to care all that much about drafting him.

this seems like it's more just long-held theory than something actually based in any fact.

i think all it would take is one courageous and good gay professional football player (michael sam unfortunately was just one of those things) to come out and pretty quickly dispel that notion.

They should be able to ask the question.
He should be able to not answer
they should not be able to use his answer in a discriminatory way as far as his sexual orientation. But his reaction absolutely could be used in their decision.
Jesus loves him either way, which is not the same as acceptance of homosexuality.

CBA Article 49 Section 1. No Discrimination: There will be no discrimination in any form against any player by the NFL, the Management Council, any Club or by the NFLPA because of race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or activity or lack of activity on behalf of the NFLPA.

Sure they can ask the question. But it's rather stupid to do so from an HR perspective. There are a thousand other questions they could have asked. If they ask this question and he answers yes, they've virtually guaranteed themselves a legal proceeding if they end up passing on the player.

Then why are you libs & your liberal news outlets so threatened by them?
I ain't threatened by anyone, especially Fox. I do think Fox, more than any other news outlet, has a specific agenda.

but you did make the effort to click like on all of jimbob's bigotry. just so everyone is clear.

I didn't go through the post to click like on all of his posts but I did on some of them because I agreed with some of what he said, not all of it. Perhaps not even all of a single post but just a part of it. and I really don't give a shit what you think to be clear. I will say though that liberals like yourself are not accomplishing anything or making the world a better place by calling people bigots and shutting down all discussion with name calling and shutting off anyone who disagree's with your opinion.

Let me guess I am a bigot, racist, homophobe, right? lol

I'll fall for it...
Are gay people not God's children? I'm sure you think it's a choice, is that correct? Is homosexuality identified in the bible? If so, it must have been happening back in the days, it can't just be something that's all of a sudden a "thing".

Is God's way to punish those people, not allow them to have the same rights? Is homosexuality some sort of mental disorder under biblical definition or what? I'd like to learn a little more about how "God's way" dictates what is right or wrong with people and how they should live. You seemed pretty well-versed on the subject so I'd appreciate some insight.

God bless.

What jimbob said ITT is a textbook example of bigotry. If you agree with the fundamental argument that he is making, that makes you also a bigot.

And, to be clear, in 10 years, the percentage of the population who agrees with me, is going to be close to 80% (it's close to 70 now).

Jim, your president cheated on his wife with a pornstar and paid her off and has kids by 3 different women.

It has been statistically proven that the guys who are most afraid of gays are usually closeted gays themselves. Case in point, it seems we cannot make it more than 6 months without yet another republican "family values" politician being caught boinking a guy or a teen boy.

Now Jimbob, usually this is the point that I would mock you mercilessly. But I feel bad for you and will pray for you. It cannot be easy living your lie, repressing who you really are. And I know it must be difficult and uncomfortable to shower in a locker room with a gay man, knowing that at any minute you may be overcome with the urge to drop to your knees.
