If you wear shorts or a tee shirt to church

That's what is wrong with alot in this world with some churches and people. They are more interested with what people wear than if they know Jesus. I was ashamed in going to church before I met Jesus because we were poor and did not have nice clothes. I thought only people with lots of money went to church. Thank you Lord for churches that accept you as you are.

I'm an atheist, so full disclosure here ...

Y'all do understand what Jesus Christ taught, right? He despised pretense. Many of the churchgoers I know are only concerned with dick-measuring every Sunday. If you follow Jesus, that's not the way you should live. I'd suggest reading the Thomas Jefferson Bible.

I agree the most important action is to attend , but absolutely no cargo shorts on Easter and T shirts should be subdued!! Happy Resurrection to all of my Tigers. You know He brought us Dabo. God loves all colors, but he wanted the sky Orange for all to see at the end of the day.

I will pray especially for you today.

This is a disappointing thread to read. I am sitting in my church for early service. As I sit getting ready to start worship service I am sitting beside a gentleman in shorts and beside a lady in a beautiful dress. This said I don't look down or up to either. We believe as a church, comes as you are with an open heart and an open mind to recieve Gods message.

I hope some of you Tshirt wearing mongoloids took a shower and shaved your neck beard before entering the presence of your superior fellow church goers.

This one will incite a few responses.

Not a churchgoer here at all. My Mother was raised by her grandparents and they went to Church every week. She was forced to wear dresses and her brother was forced to wear a tie and dress shirt. She hated it. She hated it because she grew up pretty poor and she felt they were living beyond their means simply by wearing nice clothes a few days a week to attend church. Also I can remember as a young kid my Great Grandfather would not allow anyone to do any yard work on Sundays yet he would get piss drunk the other 6 days a week. That always seemed odd to me even as a kid. My point is some people dress all nice and attend church but they do it for all the wrong reasons. Some people do not have the means to buy nice clothes but can and will attend church for the right reasons. If I went to church I know which person I would rather sit beside.

1 Samuel 16:7New King James Version (NKJV)

Admittedly, I'm not a regular church attendee. I would assume that most weekends would call for at least business casual and a tie would be needed for Easter Sunday. Is that not correct?

You'd think so but there are plenty of slobs in this world. It's disgusting. I think it's a big millenial thing to dress like that at mega churches too.

I agree with OP. I realize God doesn't care what you wear to church, but have some respect. ...not only for Him and His place of worship, but yourself.

It's played out bruh.

Ron my Great Grandmother was one of the last people buried in the Bethel Cemetery. Or so my Mom tells me.

Cut offs and tank tops are ok.........

Until..............
You realize the fact of Who and why you are coming.
You are coming to the "house" of the Creator of the Universe; YOUR Creator: God...to Worship Him.
Then, out of respect, dress appropriately for a Worship Service.
Wear your best rags, at least. Whatever that may be.

Not every gathering at 'church' is a "formal" worship service.

If you would dress nicer to go to a job interview or meet a famous politician or a funeral, etc., than to attend a Sunday Worship Service, I would suggest you re-think your personal dress code.

Happy Easter to EVERY one of you.

I'm sitting here at the church I attend doing valet parking. I just believe that if God could let his Son die for the sins of mankind we should give Him our best. If all you have is a 3 piece suit or a pair of old holey jeans that's fine just do the best you can. God is looking at your heart.

People can wear whatever they want to church. Nobody will be turned away from our church for their wardrobe but if I see somebody in shorts or a tshirt on Easter Sunday I'm going to lose some respect for them. Have some self awareness people.

So this house of the loving and living God wore khakis and button down with a blazer. To think a building is Gods house is beyond misguided. Maybe get that pat right before you go judging what people wear, or more importantly realize God looks at the heart of the person not their clothes.

You guys crack me up though. I needed a good Easter laugh

I was thinking last night as I sat in our service that I am so glad my church isn't a fashion show.

I am pretty show that the time I spent with God during the worship music spoke louder about my heart than my flip flops, jeans, and pullover.
