I haven't paid much attention to the political scope the past few years. I voted for Trump in 2016 FWIW. Give me the cliffs on the impeachment. It sounds like it's all fluff and democrats whining. Am I right or is there a legit chance he gets impeached?

FWIW, I didn't vote for Trump, and won't again. I think he's the worst President ever. (other than Woodrow Wilson)

That being said, this is a total trash exercise that is completely partisan, and is rooted nowhere in reality. There was no Quid Pro Quo, or bribery (which now the Democrats have changed the goal posts to). This is a total joke and a misuse of power and taxpayer funds.

Despite that, he will get impeached, the democrats have the numbers in the House. He won't get removed, not near enough for removal in the Senate.

Anything can happen in politics on this country. What's happening is criminal...really. Pelosi should be charged for treason. I don't like Trump's loud mouth, but he sticks to his job....not that you're going to know with the Lib media in this country. You folks voting Liberal will eventually ruin a once great country. You're not voting Democrat like when I was young. You voting for people like Pelosi and Hillary....smgdfhaym.

this is exactly right and what will happen. Don’t agree on trump being one of the worst, at least not at this point. History may prove me wrong and he end up being terrible but there are far too many positives to say he’s one of the worst yet.

Trump is his own weird bird, does things a bit slimy like you would expect from a NY developer. Unethical, but probably not impeachable. House may impeach. If impeached, the Senate has basically chosen the jury nullification route so there is no chance at removal.

Summary:
  • President is slimy, unethical and to be generous operates on the edge of the law as everyone already knew.
  • House is wasting time chasing a Pyrrhic victory, because:
  • Senate will abdicate any pretense of doing its job.
  • Ultimately, nothing has or will change; we are still being poorly served by all of the people we elect.

What the Dems are doing is an embarrassment and actually strengthening Trumps re-election chances.

This is the outcome of what they are doing:

Dems will impeach from the House and most people will say "huh?"
Senate will not impeach
All of this goes away rather quickly after that
Hundreds of millions of tax dollars wasted on this idiotic impeachment
Swing voters are all going to Trump because of the lunacy
Trump wins the election by a landslide

The election is coming up so the politicians are grand standing. These are some of the biggest criminals in the world. Doesn’t matter if they’re Dem., Republican , or libertarian. That’s why they do need term limits. Biggest reason they want rid of Trump he’s not a life long politician. They are scared that with that big mouth of his he’s going to expose them what they’re are doing. Like sending jobs overseas and taking lobbyist money doing it

Dem still haven't accepted that DT won, and they know they are about to lose in 2020, so their only way to appease their base is to try to impeach

They are running a couple of millionaire socialist and a pedophile with dementia.....impeachment is their only hope

My guess is you care more about social issues than a strong economy.

Nancy Pelosi will have a tough decision on her hand.

If she counts votes before the actual vote, and has no Republican support, and loses more than a few democrat votes, it would be tough for her to go through with a full vote. The crazy left wing will push her too, but the Democrats in moderate to conservative districts will pay for it in 2020.

There was bipartisan agreement on Clinton's impeachment, only 5 though.

I'm actually the opposite, but I'm kind of a President's nerd and I have a problem with the way he behaves.

His twitter attacks/loose language is not becoming of a President, the person who is supposed to be the first citizen, a role model for behavior and discourse.

He shows no loyalty and is thin skinned. His rhetoric is dangerous; not for the stupid, fake, 'he's a racist' BS that he gets tagged with. It's the way he flippantly speaks about foreign leaders/countries/about foreign policy.

He's exactly what I hate about this country; a constantly triggered, mean spirited, lying, anti-intellectual.

....and still none of that is an impeachable offense

I would argue the impeachment is correct if the following scenario is true (I am not saying that it is)
1. He has no evidence of Hunter Biden corruption
2. He tells Ukraine to open an investigation into Hunter Biden
3. He tells people in the white house that the military aid (and/or a White House visit) is contingent on an announcement of the investigations publicly.

I would consider that an impeachable abuse of power.

What will you do the next four years?

Don't forget, stock market is growing at record pace and we aren't fighting any foreign wars.

what? where do you get your information?

we are still fighting three. The only difference is that Trump refuses to release how many active soldiers are fighting, something that Bush and Obama both did quarterly, regardless of the criticism they would receive.

I am not sure how anyone who has been paying attention could think that. There was very clearly a quid pro quo.

The republican argument has been there cant be a quid pro quo because Trump eventually released the funds and the Ukrainians never investigated Biden. What they fail to mention is that trump released the funds two days after the white house learned about the whistleblower's report. Trump's famous phone conversation with Sondland where he said "no quid pro quo" was the SAME DAY that the white house learned of the whistleblower report.

If you believe that is a valid defense, then we should release the shoe bomber from prison right now, because he also only intended to commit a crime.

i would make sure anyone you quote will have actually read the report 7n its entirely before writing a story.

thats what wrong with the press now. they do not check sources. they just publish hearsay and opinion now and act as if its fact.

anyway, the guy at the center of this shares his "opinion-

You nailed it. No chance he's voted out.

You realize that Carter Page isn't an objective news source into an investigation of Carter Page, right? Like... you get that, right?

This. The outcome is pretty much a fixed point on the timeline. Near absolutely zero chance (never say never) it goes any other way.

So who really cares? 2020 will be Trump vs a far left candidate. Pick your poison.

Hopefully we get Nikki Haley as a candidate in 2024.

Like because that table is really freaking cool.

Thats just not necessarily true. Trump is not a right leaning candidate. He says things that people might like but wow, his policies are pretty liberal just fyi. I think the most right wing thing about him is the neo nationalism and locking up the boarders. The rest is pretty much spend spend spend government. Am I missing something? The same people who are afraid of immigrants will vote for him. Thats basically the R. plan.

I was trying to figure out how to debate this and tell you that you are wrong...

but shit... I think this is where we actually are at now.

he is going to be a millionaire once he gets done sueing this individuals.

especially those operatives we have on cnn who over the last 2 years stated that they had actual evidence to prove carter was a russian spy.

lisa page and peter strouss should be tarred and feathered and put in jail for life.

The Justice Department Inspector General just found that the launching of the Russia probe was justified. There were a lot of "you just wait for the IG report" folks on this board (some of whom I've admittedly ignored) who should be coming to eat some crow now.

it was not justified and it was a targeted hit. have you read the report yet?

an attempted coup.

seems like that would worry you a little regardless of whether the president is a democrat or republican.

crazy to think an attempted coup is just numbing? or just too much to believe american citizens would attempt to overthrow an election?

None of this has anything to do with what I responded to.

first hand interview with the actual human being at the center of this is more important that listening to a reporter who has no first hand knowledge of the situation.

like the stories published yesterday, one was linked here by cbs news.

lazy reporting. they listen to some talking points and copy paste and post with no research.

there should not be a story published on the ig report until the person writing the story has actual read and consumed the information within the report, then branch out stories from that inner knowledge.

the public would enjoy an educated press.

same with quid pro quo.

persons (witness 1 and witness 2) on both sides of call say nothing to see here.

exhibit 1 (transcrip) shows no quid pro

thats it. case over. we spent a few weeks listening to second and third hand opinions.

what a waste of time and apparent image that americans are too ignorant to understand this sham.
