I’m not defending the J6 people, but I don’t follow your line of thinking on this topic.

Prison should suck. It should not be pleasant. You are there because you are a convicted criminal. It serves as a deterrent from committing crimes.

We have a thing called due process. We can’t subject people to those conditions without it. As I understand it, the J6 detainees have not received that and have been in jail for 2 years. That’s not right.

If they are convicted of crimes like using bear spray or beating a cop or whatever, I hope they get thrown in a shitty prison and are subjected to the sucky conditions that should exist for convicted criminals.

I think prison should be more about rehabilitation than as strictly for punishment. there's a reason the US has the highest recidivism rates in the US and it's not because this country is inherently more prone to violence or criminality than other nations.

The irony i find in all of this is that the problems with this specific DC jail (scant food/water, squalid conditions, standing sewage, etc) has been well documented for YEARS and it's never caused the amount of uproar we're experiencing now thanks to the cries of these traitors. They're slowly going through and sentencing the rioters, and since none of the ~40 still being detained, of which they were the ones accused of committing the more violent actions on J6, were approved for bail they must wait in jail.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is among Republicans who have expressed concern that federal agents “deliberately encouraged illegal and violent conduct on Jan. 6?” when supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol.

Sixty-one percent (61%) of voters believe it is likely that undercover government agents helped provoke the Capitol riot, including 39% who think it’s Very Likely. Thirty percent (30%) don’t think it’s likely undercover agents helped provoke the riot, including 18% who say it is Not At All Likely.

I haven’t followed the details, but they should have been/should be treated like any American who deserves due process. And I don’t see why they wouldn’t be granted bail given that most are probably limited flight risk, not violent offenders, etc. There shouldn’t have been a separate legal process for them.

Fox New host Tucker Carlson aired footage of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Riot on Monday evening that appeared to show Capitol Police did not attempt to stop one of the leading demonstrators from reaching the Senate floor but rather escorted him to the chamber.
The footage shows Jacob Chansley, widely known as the QAnon Shaman, walking through the corridors of the U.S. Capitol with two members of the Capitol Police alongside him, according to the New York Post. The officers have not subdued him and he does not appear to have had his movement restricted via handcuffs.
Carlson, for his part, was livid at the behavior of the police force.
"The tapes show the Capitol police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides," Carlson lamented. Chansley received a 41-month sentence in connection with his role in the incident.
His outlandish dress and image appeared in much of the reporting on the riot and he ultimately became its most recognizable participant. Carlson also played interview footage in which Chansley indicated his belief that Capitol Police had allowed their entry and that his actions had been permissible.
"The one very serious regret that I have [is] believing that when we were waved in by police officers that it was acceptable," Chansley says in the clip.
Carlson then asserts that Chansley "understood that the Capitol police were his allies," before asking viewers "If he was in the act of committing such a grave crime, why didn't the officers standing right next to him place him under arrest?"
The Fox News host then excoriated the legacy media for its selective, narrative driven reporting on the incident which made Chansley the riot's public face and pushed a narrative that the incident was a violent attempt to overthrow democracy.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy gave Carlson exclusive access to roughly 41,000 hours of security footage related to the riot, which prompted outrage from the legacy media, who expressed concerns that Carlson would selectively present the material to support his own narrative. The California Republican asserted that such outlets were merely "jealous" he got the tapes.

I try to always tell the truth. I never consciously lie about something. That doesn't help anything and it makes me look like an idiot on the end because the truth usually comes out. I'm not a white knight or anything else. I love talking politics and I recognize that while I am conservative, I don't have all the answers. Hundreds of defense counsel have been pouring through all of that info over a year looking to find something that could get their clients off, and haven't found anything. I'm eagerly awaiting the smoking gun that all of these counsels couldn't find, but Tucker is able to broadcast as proof of innocence to his millions of viewers.
