For the sake of argument, let's assume this is true. Why is this surprising? There were known weapons, threats against the government, etc. I would sort of hope that we had the Federal agents around and ready to help and identify those wrong doers.
Having agents there would be no different than undercover agents in the Mafia, drug lords, etc. that's been done forever and is common practice.

Tenney pushed away the officer’s hand. While in the Rotunda, he yelled, “Stand up, Patriots, stand up!” He then returned to the Rotunda Doors, where he assisted rioters entering the building, patting them on the back and helping them move forward. When another Capitol Police officer entered the area, Tenney pushed him to the side. Tenney ultimately had to be pulled back inside so that the Rotunda Doors could be closed to keep other rioters from entering. He then retreated to the Rotunda and exited the Capitol through a window at approximately 2:32 p.m."

If I recall correctly, we the people have the right to peacefully assemble. That's what CNN told us all of 2020 at the mostly peaceful protests, this when the law abiding folks stayed home with their masks on as covid couldn't spread at the social justice riots but it could in our schools.
No one was impressed with J6, anyone that illegally entered the Capitol (without the police opening doors and letting them in) should have been whacked with trespassing, those that actually did damage, more severe penalties. Locking people up for a decade or more because the left wants to push a "saving democracy" narrative for votes is plain stupid and will backfire. If 50% of the people that stormed the Capitol were armed, they would have been in there for days if not weeks. How can you overthrow a government without weapons?
Until I see actual emails between Trump, Trump's admin team, Trump's fake tan guy, etc organizing the taking of the Capitol and a detailed plan to overthrow the government, it's all one big giant sham and a total waste of tax payer money.
