On Monday, in a surprise decision, Judge Aileen Cannon ruled the classified documents case should be thrown out because she said the appointment of special prosecutor Jack Smith was improper and violated the Constitution. The decision by Cannon, a Trump appointee, is likely to be appealed given that other courts have made contradictory rulings.
