LA Fires

RESIGNATION? The fact-checkers have been falsely claiming LA Mayor Bass didn't cut the LA Fire Department's budget. Now we're learning that she actually demanded the LAFD cut ANOTHER $49 million from its budget just last week before she left the country. Is anyone going to resign? Get fired? The Water Chief? The Lesbian Fire Chiefs? The Mayor? The Governor? Someone? Anyone?
So where's the memo? If the memo was leaked, it would be out there, right? Again, no knowledge of if this is true or not, but a question. Here's a random tweet claiming that the mayor wrote a memo cutting the budget. Did you even look to see if the memo was there?

I saw the article that the random tweeter referenced on the dailymail.co.uk which in turn referenced a instagram account called lafdwatchdog. I'm not following that accout and everything on there is private. So you can't see the memo.

Again, not saying this isn't true, but I'm not seeing anything to confirm it. Budget cuts are a thing for sure.

Governor Gavin Newscum should immediately go to Northern California and open up the water main, and let the water flow into his dry, starving, burning State, instead of having it go out into the Pacific Ocean. It ought to be done right now, NO MORE EXCUSES FROM THIS INCOMPETENT GOVERNOR. IT’S ALREADY FAR TOO LATE!

Please explain how their sexual preference matters one bit? And the right wonders why people call them homophobic/sexist/etc...
It matters, because that is why they got hired in the first place. They didn't get hired on merit. You are telling me 3 lesbo dykes are the best LA county has to offer?

I "provoked" you by pointing out that you posted yet another a total BS claim w/o even checking to see if it's true? REALLY? Why would my panties be in a wad about it? Just pointing out that you post stuff that simply isn't true and instead of simply saying "Oh, my bad." and moving on, you try and double down by saying that there's some sort of conspiracy theory of backdating the proclamation, even though FoxNews had a story on it day before yesterday.

I have no information one way or the other on the people reportedly setting fires in and around LA. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if they were. Just as it wouldn't surprise me if this not true... you know, like the fire hydrants not working or the Governor not activating the NG. At least this time you said "If true" and the folks you are quoting are saying "reports of" and things that at least let you know that this isn't confirmed fully.

You continue to show that you're just an absolutely terrible person. Just an irredeemably awful person.
Highlights they were hired for other reasons than ability and experience.
There's no info in that tweet showing they're unqualified. It just said they're lesbians named Kristen, and you automatically assume that means they're unqualified. I do enjoy the mask coming off and the realization that when the right bemoans DEI hires it's just because they don't see a white male in power.

The terrible people are the ones practicing DEI.

Just a filthy, no good, dishonest, immoral, policy that has resulted in the loss of whole cities.

DEI needs to die with these fires. And it is.

The probability of 3 lesbians being the most qualified people in LA County? Lol

DEI is a fraud and contributes to these fires not being put out in a timely manner.

If it makes me a bad person for calling a spade a spade then so be it. That is what I am here for.

Personally, I’m curious to see how much blame gets thrown on LADWP. Especially since BuzzCut Bass and the California Democratic machine approved Quinones (a PG&E cast off) and her ridiculously inflated salary. Can’t help but wonder why her predecessor (Marty) was paid so much less. If you don’t think Newsom had his hands in that hire, you don’t know what I do about her connection to the Puerto Rico grid rebuild and the electric utility consultancy that was whispering in Newsom’s ear from as far back as 2020.

I’m not a conspiracy guy. When I post about CA or Los Angeles issues, it’s typically about things I know first-hand because it’s either in my technical /experience wheelhouse or I’ve attended under-the-radar meetings at private places like the Long Beach Yacht Club, where business can be conducted away from prying eyes. During my career, I was very fortunate to have been involved in meetings that were far, far above my pay grade. Heard/saw some very interesting things that, absent what I’d seen, I’d have naively thought were just coincidence. Naw, not coincidence. I’ve pulled back the layers on some of the things I saw take place over the last decade and came to the realization “Oh, THAT’S why that happened.”

Since I know the Coastal Commission very well, I’m wondering if Adam Corolla (above) is referring to a specific staff person (“….28 year old b…”) or Commissioner at the CCC.

He’s not correct BTW. Those with influence will get their Coastal Development Permits to rebuild in Malibu. Just like The Edge got his (he sat right in front of me) for the houses he built up on the hillside above Malibu after being initially denied. Strange how that approval & commission vote came during a CCC meeting so far away and poorly attended way up by the Oregon border, eh? Probably just coincidence…

Let's not confuse forests and LA. You can't do controlled burns in residential areas and the reservoirs were the fullest they've been since 1979. Now they've had 8 months without rain and 95 mph Santa Ana winds fueling it. What would you have done to prevent those winds and that drought? Then tell me why Wyoming, Texas and Colorado also couldn't prevent similarly sized fires and DeSantis can't control hurricane damage - after all, hurricanes have been hitting Florida forever.

And btw, if you lived there you should know that over 58% of California's forests are federally owned, 40 percent is privately held and less than 3% is owned by the State. Tell me how that's Gavin's fault.
Your lack of knowledge on what is considered "forested areas" and controlled burns is evident. Trying to STOP disasters like California is experiencing currently or like Florida experiences with hurricanes is impossible. What we are talking about is doing those proven things that help mitigate the losses in these areas. As to the ownership of forested lands in California, states usually work with the owners of forested lands in their state to do proven forest management things to help mitigate disasters. Are you telling me that California was practicing good forest management, good water management considering the weather conditions they experience in their area?

Enough with your never-ending divisive maga bullshit. How about seeing what you can do to help instead?
dpic73, to me one of the first things you do in trying to solve a problem is to identify what is causing the problem! A lot of information here is pointing at some of the possible causes.

I don't know all the answers - I just don't believe the results would have any different even if Reagan was still the governor unless he could stop 100 mph winds and an 8 month drought. Do I think they did everything perfectly, I doubt it but I also think they took it seriously and tried their best to addrress it.

But I'll throw it back to you again since you say you were in the industry. What should they have done?

Growls is never interested in solving a problem, only to exarcerbate it , particularly if he can blame a Democrat.
