Levon Kirkland is now a meme...and it's pretty funny

NoT RaCiSt aT aLL....hmmmm, where have I heard that before?

1. Pamela Ramsey Taylor, the director of Clay County Development Corp. near Charleston, wrote about Melania Trump becoming first lady after Donald Trump won the election. On her Facebook page, Taylor said: “It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a Ape in heels [sic].”

The post was picked up by local news stations which also reported the town’s mayor, Beverly Whaling, replied to the post: “Just made my day Pam.” Both women apologized for the remarks since but an online petition calling for them to step down from their respective posts garnered over 84,000 signatures. Taylor has since been removed from her post.

My comment was not intended to be racist at all,” Whaling told the Washington Post. “I was referring to my day being made for change in the White House! I am truly sorry for any hard feeling this may have caused! Those who know me know that I’m not of any way racist! Again, I would like to apologize for this getting out of hand!”

From an article by the company that owns Rivals:

5 times Republicans called Michelle Obama a Primate

You’re comparing apples with oranges. ( or apes with looking masculine) The meme didn’t call her an ape. The insinuation is she’s not very feminine. Neither is Rosie O’Donnell. Am I a racist because I think so?

But in that same vein, say you want to be Grace Jones for Halloween. You might have the purest intentions and just love Grace Jones. But if you paint your face black, because of history, it's going to be viewed as racist no matter what. And it should be.

You‘re comparing apples to car engines in this scenario.

There was nothing racist about what jr posted.

Gonna go out on a small limb and say that the experience of Irish people in the US has been slightly better than that of black people.

What does this have to do with anything being discussed with regards to the OP?

Irish people? lol good grief.

I read your post. And I respectfully disagree. That kind of thinking is why we stay stuck in the past. Move on. Everything isn’t about race. People play the race card way too often. It’s beyond old.

Supposedly, humans are the most advanced species. Yet, when confronted by something we fear or do not understand, we revert to basic identifiers such as color and gender.

PS. If you really want to be p/o, go look for Levon Kirklands induction picture in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Where was all the outrage when Robert Nkemdiche's mom was being compared to James Evans from Goodtimes. I think some people are just upset because someone bad a poor joke about one of the leaders of their team, the democratic party.

I know connecting dots can be hard sometimes, but yeah, maybe calling Michelle Obama a man/linebacker given the racist trope of associating black people with apes is slightly different than doing the same to Rosie O'Donnell.

I'm going to assume anyone in this thread asking "why is this racist?" is genuinely asking and not being an a**hole. And I'll hope you're are open minded enough to consider another person's perspective, particularly a person of another gender and race who has obviously had a very different life experience from your own(assuming you are a white man). So, I'll explain and I'll keep it very brief.

For many, many years, black women have been considered masculine and even called ape-like. To insinuate any black person looks like an ape is an extremely old racist trope that goes back to the ages of slave holders.

So, to compare Michelle Obama to a hulking NFL player in his prime, or to state she looks like a character from Planet of the Apes(this has been done), not to mention starting absurd conspiracy theories claiming she is transgender(also been done) and did not give birth to their daughters(also been done) is exceedingly demeaning and, yes, is VERY racist.
Holy leap in logic and oversensitivity Batman! No one is comparing she/he/it to an ape or a character in a crappy sci-fi movie ITT.

If someone says or does something that is not racist, but reminds you of something that is racist, that doesn't make the first thing racist, it makes you very creative in your selective outrage.

It's funny how people on your side of this argument will say this "Is why we're stuck in the past." And "Move on". But then will say stuff like thi without hesitation:

Always will be Tillman Hall to me.

And I'm not saying I agree or disagree with your Tillman ascertain. It's just the level of hypocrisy in those statements is incredible.

The chuds having an ongoing fascination with Michelle Obama (BA Princeton, JD Harvard Law btw) for some reason whereby they compare her to apes and football players and say she's a man who didn't have her own children is definitely just a coincidence and not related to her race at all. I'm old enough to remember when @amynhop cried on here because people mocked her picture in a TI thread that was intended to be a joke/roast type thread. The hypocrisy isn't really surprising at this point.

You are reaching big time.

Are you suggesting that had DJTjr used Nick Kwiatkoski in his post it would still be deemed racist, simply by comparing her to a man?

Just a reminder of what Tillman stood for:

"We have never believed him [the Negro] to be the equal of the white man, and we will not submit to his gratifying his lust on our wives and daughters without lynching him."

"I believe that God made the white man out of better clay than that which the Negro was made from."

"The action of President Roosevelt in entertaining that (n-word) [Booker T Washington] will necessitate our killing a thousand (n-words) in the South before they learn their place again."

But sure, let's let bygones be bygones and it's all ok

Oh wow. Don’t understand how that makes me a hypocrite. Please explain.

I’m not sure that conparing Michelle Obama to one of the largest linebackers to ever do it and insinuating that she is biologically male itself is explicitly racist, BUT

I am 100% certain that the majority of the people gleefully trafficking and perpetuating this stuff are doing it because they are.

Cried? Mocked? Hypocrisy ? lol. You can’t stand to have your post respectfully disagreed with, can you?

I know one thing is certain. I don’t look anything like a man.

Man, political discourse in this country is remarkable. Seems to me, the Obama’s, Trump’s, Bush’s, and Clinton’s of the world love for us to debate the racial merits of an internet meme.

Don’t unite to stop the steady decline and degradation of our nation, argue over the nuances of first world problems.

Neither does Michelle Obama except to chuds. I've never once looked at her and thought she looks like a man. I read where she's 5'11 so it's hilarious (sad) to me that chuds act like she's some giant physical specimen.

Also, you literally said that you were crying in that thread from several years ago. You said the mean comments (in a ROAST thread btw) made you cry and you hoped the people were proud of themselves for making a woman cry. I didn't make any of those comments towards you, but other people did.

I think you're smart enough to know without asking, but here goes:

On one side you want everyone to move on from the racist past, because it suits you and your ideals.

On the other hand you DON'T want people to move on from honoring an extremely racist historical individual because it suits you and your ideals.

Seems like the definition of hypocrisy.

on one hand you want to move on, but on the other you want tillman hall to stay Tillman hall....

I’m not part of the cancel culture. I don’t want to erase history. That doesn’t make me a racist. I don’t judge people by skin color. I judge by character.

I am smart enough to know that just because I didn’t want the name changed…doesn’t make me a racist! Nor a hypocrite!

That is not at all what my previous message stated.

Both this, and your message to Howard, are completely side skirting the point.

Maybe we do have the most triggered and sensitive fan base in America!

I did not want to believe it, but I think it might be true.

Dear God!!

Old Main was renamed Tillman Hall during the Jim Crow era in 1946, 30 years after Tillman’s death. Tillman was a virulent violent racist and personally participated in multiple lynching and instigated racial violence in the Edgefield area. Proclaiming that you’re not a racist and then in the same post making a building being named after one of the most vile racists in our states history your hill to die on is weird.

I edited and added hypocrite. Doesn’t make me a hypocrite, either.
Whether you feel it does or not. Your views on these two situations are 100% contradictory. Which is the definition of hypocrisy.

Go ahead, try it. Give a 4 sentence explaination of why whe should move on from the historical references to black women. And then do the same for why we should keep the name Tillman Hall in spite of Tillman's racist legacy. I'll wait.

Guess you were an advocate to change Aunt Jemima syrup, too? When does it end?

Does it matter what’s offensive to me that the Left, does? Is murdering babies, ok? Talk about hypocrisy…..
