Making light of the Holocaust on Twitter is an interesting way to defend himself. It was very sad to see the ADL bend over backwards for him.

Why is only the "far right" capable of mimicking Nazis? That seems like an absurd argument.
It's either a nazi salute or it's not. You are either outraged due to the salute, or you are outraged about something else. Which is it?
If you are outraged by the salute, you should have been outraged at AOC, Tim Walz, Kamala, Taylor Swift and many others. But there were no posts about them. Why? Because it wasn't about the salute at all. It was a giant hoax that stupid people fell for.

Do you by chance have video of any of those 4 people making the gesture? Nobody here is calling somebody a Nazi for lifting their arm above shoulder height in a picture.

Do I come across as outraged to you? People go overboard all the time. But its just not that hard to condemn Nazi's.
Found the Tim Walz one. He turns his palm up. Elon keeps his hand straight out. They're not close to being the same gesture.

I just think there would be zero remaining outrage from anyone if he had just quickly said, wow, it does look like the nazi salute. But definitely didn't mean that, f*ck the Nazi's.

If the ADL felt the need to issue a careful statement defending him, it's pretty clear there's a strong resemblance to one. They've spent plenty of time calling other people anti-Semitic, but when it's politically convenient, they elect not to. Shame.
Of course he decided after all this controversy to joke around about Nazis and the Holocaust. Maybe he's "trolling." Regardless, when you act like this, you send the message to legitimate Nazis that it's all good.

Strong resemblance? Maybe. But the educated person can easily discern that was not a Nazi Salute.
An educated person knows that a Nazi Salute was made to honor Hitler and was accompanied by a Sieg Heil or whatever they said. Neither were done and, therefore, past a first glance no educated person would think "from my heart to yours" is similar to a Nazi Salute.
It was just another hoax. These things used to get traction when you could censor dissenting voices. Now that the BS can be called out in real time, you have to expose your idiocy for the world to see if you want to make those claims.

This was actually my first thought. His history on X made me think this was a likely outcome.
They can't decide if they want to say he was trying to replicate a Nazi salute as a troll or that he wasn't. I think anybody who claims to love Jewish people should be a little more contrite about invoking an image of their genocide.
