Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) wants to see Ohio State coach Urban Meyer “back on top again” after the findings of the investigation into the way the football program handled allegations of domestic abuse are revealed.

The Ohio State Board of Trustees is set to meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to be briefed on the investigators’ report. The investigation into whether Meyer handled a 2015 accusation of domestic violence against former wide receivers coach Zach Smith concluded Sunday.

Meyer was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 1. The board is expected to make a decision on Meyer’s status by the end of the week according to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel.

Kasich, an Ohio State alum, is hoping for an outcome that’s good for Meyer.

Kasich told the Dayton Daily News. “And I want him to be back on top again. I don’t root against people.”

Meyer endorsed Kasich when the governor unsuccessfully sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Meyer’s actions regarding the 2015 accusation against Smith were questioned in late July. Ohio State fired Smith on July 23 after the accusation, along with one from 2009 when Smith worked for Meyer at Florida, was revealed. The accusations came to light after Smith’s ex-wife Courtney obtained a protection order against him on July 20.

Meyer initially denied he knew Courtney accused Zach of abuse three years ago and said he didn’t know why someone would make up a report like that. Two days after he was placed on administrative leave, Meyer issued a statement that said he knew of the allegation at the time and reported it to the proper channels.

Maybe so but his campaign manager seems to have conviction on 8 counts with more likely to come. Also think it is unlikely Kasich paid off porn stars.
Manafort worked on the campaign for like 2 months. He was brought on really to secure delegates for the nomination and let go not long after (took over for Corey Lewandowski and followed by Kellyann Conway). Take a lap.

Additionally, none of Manafort's convictions had anything to do with the Trump campaign or Trump himself. Keep taking those laps.

I agree with the last part that none of his convictions spell collusion, but its not a good thing with your close associates start racking up felonies.

Ironic statements as usual from one of a very small and select group of individuals most responsible for Donald Trump being elected POTUS.

The Cohen one is of concern. He's been with Trump for a very long time. Manafort though? That's a nothing burger.

I wouldn't be concerned about the Cohen one either really. Sure it is embarrassing and damaging to Trump's moral status (although I don't think he had a reputation of one to begin with), but John Kerry and Barack Obama both made trouble for themselves with paying off mistresses and campaign finance violations (respectively). The point is that the Mueller investigation was in search of Russian collusion to rig an American election and they have NOTHING so they will cling to this consolation prize of taking down someone close to Trump who INDIVIDUALLY committed federal fraud.

Originally Cohen said that, before the campaign, he payed off women who were required to sign non-disclosure agreements. I hate to bring the real world crashing down around you, but that is what lawyers do for their high profile clients. They pay off disgruntled women who would otherwise go to Trump's wife.

Just so you are educated and not regurgitating the hannity conservative media spin on this, Obama's campaign, not the candidate was retroactively fined by the FCC 375,000 after an audit found that with certain contributions paperwork was filed late. Nothing nefarious, nothing criminal, just not meeting some 20 hour window... just fyi...

You are ignorantly arguing campaign finance law with an election lawyer. This is a pretty clear cut violation.

Only campaign manager for a short time...has nothing to do at all with Mueller investigation. Kasich is pitiful.
Keep trying to convince yourself that everything is on the up and up. I am disappointed that Kasich even commented on this. He is usually very professional and puts thought into what he says.
