Because people like me paid thousands of dollars a year for a looong time and are getting ready to collect it?Why not scrap SS. It’s going bankrupt. It wont be there for people like me paying thousands of dollars a year.

No but I do believe that one party cares much more about people in lower income tax brackets than the other party. So you’re argument is one party is full of altruistic people that are just looking out for Americans.
Your hero China Joe just increased the national debt more than any potus in history. Take this fact and chew on it.No but I do believe that one party cares much more about people in lower income tax brackets than the other party.
You have TigerGrowls and others celebrating the resolution bill that will destroy the middle and lower classes as well as increase the debt by 19 TRILLION dollars and to partly fund a tiny sliver of it, they are performatively wiping out services for the people who can least afford to lose them
Why not scrap SS. It’s going bankrupt. It wont be there for people like me paying thousands of dollars a year.
It's eliminated in the budget resolution per the post.I don't think ole George here knows how the legislative system works, and clearly you don't either by claiming that SS tax has been eliminated.
1. This bill is a proposal that is to allow the senate to start the debate on those topics and begin to carve up what's in the proposal.
2. Assuming it makes it way through the Senate, it still has to be sent back to the House to be voted on again.
This is just the first, and easiest, stage in proposing a new bill. As it's written, I don't see how it's going to pass the Senate without serious carving.
This is just the first step in stopping the Obstructionism.
Not true but at least the American people received something in return for his portion of the debt. How will Trump's addition help us as a country?Your hero China Joe just increased the national debt more than any potus in history. Take this fact and chew on it.
1) SS is a highly popular program that has broad support from both parties. Why not scrap SS. It’s going bankrupt. It wont be there for people like me paying thousands of dollars a year.

That's not a good faith argument and has nothing to do with my point. This provides no context.
If you raise, raise, raise, raise, raise taxes and then claim you are "cutting" taxes, is that a fair assessment?
No, let's talk about overall tax rates and how the puzzle fits together.
You still continue to ignore the problem. IF YOU TAX BILLIONAIRES AT 100% THAT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
So because it’s popular we should keep the current system?1) SS is a highly popular program that has broad support from both parties.
2) I think we are morally obligated to take care of our seniors.
I don't think you can win an election without supporting SS.
I think the best we can do is to reform the program to be better. Not saying i know how that would be done, just saying i think cutting it altogether is a losing proposition.
So because it’s popular we should keep the current system?
Look at what google says about SS:
No, Social Security is not going bankrupt, but it will need changes to remain solvent. The Social Security Board of Trustees projects that the trust fund will be depleted in the 2030s. However, this doesn't mean that benefits will stop.
Funds depleted by the 2030’s is wild. And we are pouring money into it.
SS is second to only federal income tax as far as deductions from my check (and it’s not that far off). It’s unsustainable.
Sure we need to take care of old people, but bankrupting the system isn’t the answer.
Look at what they list as the answers:
How Social Security might be reformed
Nothing about this is good, we allowed fraud and abuse of the SS system. Now it’s going broke and there’s a large part of the population dependent on it.
- Raising the maximum amount of wages subject to payroll tax
- Broadening the tax base to include more types of income
- Raising the payroll tax rate
