OT:ASG moved out of Atlanta

As someone who believes it’s crystal clear what this laws’ intentions are, today, I have both a another racially charged law in addition to a local economy that was counting on the revenue. Thanks MLB

Should have had the commissioner come speak directly to the governor.

That's just remarkable. There is no limit to the stupidity in our country. Just goes to show how the truth is irrelevant and narratives are all that matters. At some point very soon, it's going to be time for us to put an end to all of this. I can certainly say I have had enough.

I do not want to get into a political debate but how exactly are these voting laws racist? I am serious because I am not up to date on the guidelines and such

Not racist...racially charged. They knew that the law would affect blacks waaaaaay more than anyone else. The party that lost feels as though this will give them a better shot of winning the next election.

****. ****. ****

I became an A-List member specifically to get tickets for the ASG (only way to get assured an ASG strip). Well, this ****ing sucks

But it sucks for the local economy more. We lost the Final 4 due to this damn virus. And now the ASG ...
Also the nba all Star game.*

There are 200,000 people that don't have an ID in this state of about 11 million. They are available for free in any elections office. Please name one way it impacts black people more?

You must think black people are really damn stupid and incapable of doing anything for themselves. And which thought process is racist again?

Again I ask... What laws were passed to affect one race over another? Again I am asking because I am out of the loop on this one. Racially charged means?

They aren't. The argument is that by requiring folks to get ID's in order to prove who they are detrimentally impacts "people of color" and amounts to voter suppression. Of course, the argument they are making suggests that "people of color" are either too stupid, or too lazy to go get ID's, which is about as racist a suggestion as one could make. But, in the current climate in this country, none of that matters. The Democrats and their state media/social media can blast a self serving narrative to the masses, facts be damned. No one is going to fact check them, and if they do, they are labeled as right wing nut bags.

If the law only required voter ID for absentee ballots it have flown by with much less scrutiny.

Instead it, among other things, criminalizes providing food or water to voters in line, shortens absentee ballot time, cuts ballot drop boxes in urban areas, and takes the Secretary of State's authority to oversee county elections officials - an elected position - over to the legislature to appoint a controlling commission of their choosing.

All these changes to a law that Republicans implemented in 2005 without any changes until the Big Lie and 2020 losses.

Or that future elections will instill faith in the American people that the process was fair, and that every legitimate vote is counted.

That's just one piece. And it's certainly targeted to discourage voters and create an adverse impact. Nuanced, frank discussion is hard though, I get it.

Call a spade a spade. Is it the new Jim Crow, no, but was it targeted to improve Republican chances of holding power, yes.

God bless my grandchildren. I hate to think what this country is going to be like when they grow up. It will soon be and sooner than you think, it will be my way and there will be no other way. Socialism/communism/Venezuela/USA. Liberalism will be the death of this country.

That time is fast approaching to take a stand, say no more and do what's necessary to defend our Constitution and founding principles which we have worked for so many decades to extend to all those who live in our country. This isn't the way to do that. We've taken a very horrible turn. I can't believe how quickly we've gotten to this point. It's really quite disheartening.

Cool. Looks like I just got a whole bunch of time back in my summer this year since I won’t have to follow the Braves or MLB. And unfortunately for MLB, old white guy is their target market.

Honestly, is there a professional league that steps on their dick more than MLB? The strike, steroids, infighting during COVID and now this.

I agree that it is targeted to improve Republican chances, but how does this keep someone from voting Democrat if they want to? It doesn't. This is a stupid argument. If you feel that the only way Democrats can win is through the kind of chaos we saw in November, then I guess you buy that argument. We've NEVER voted like that before 2020. This law is even less restrictive than before the stupid mail in thing we just went through. One vote per living, legal US citizen over the age of 18. That's what everyone should want. If you don't have an ID, you have from now until November of 2022 to go get one. Do it, or stay home and shut up!

Just like last year. I will be boycotting the MLB for another year thanks to their poor decision making abilities. Maybe see you in 2022......

MLB bent the knee.
This affects me none. I hate baseball. I do feel sorry for the people of Atlanta, many of them "people of color", who will lose out on the opportunity. But hey...go woke, go broke, right? I'm sure the race baiting politicians and the corporate fat cats could not care less as long as they can keep pushing this lie to intimidate other States from tightening up their election laws to keep cheating, ballot harvesting, voter intimidation, etc. at bay.

Very good synopsis and proof that the folks complaining about the law haven’t read it. It codified the largely positive changes from the pandemic.

The Dems and Stacey Abrams has been asking to take the election security away from the Sec of State for years and now they got it.
