Okay, so it's a long video, but do yourself a favor and at least listen to a few minutes of what then President Ronald Reagan had to say about what Roy endured while trying to help his fellow soldiers. Benavidez was presented with the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1981.
I had never heard of Roy Benavidez until yesterday when someone posted a video about the 5 baddest men in history (or something to that affect).
My god, the more you read about this man, i'm amazed there hasn't been a movie based on his life and what he did. Maybe it was because it's the Vietnam war and most of America wants to forget that war, but my God. What a great American hero!
