OT: Should women be permitted to drink alcohol before 40ish?

Laugh all you want smart guy... We murder over 900,000 unborn every year.

What about a woman's right to do anything she wants to her body? I knew you believed in that shit. What about at eight weeks when it reacts to pain? That's not a human? You have a rude awakening coming after this life.
Thus, everyone should pay a percentage tax to take care of unwanted babies up until age 22. Really be pro-life, not just pro-birth. Or, spend your time mentoring unwanted children and being father figure. Let me guess, you don't want to.

Too bad your mother didn't think that while pregnant with your mass of cells.

BTW I pay my taxes, I donate to charities, and I raise my children. No problem here with being pro-life, not pro-convenient life like your ilk.

Imagine if all these aborted babies were born. A huge percentage of them would be living off of our tax dollars. Living in poverty, more crime, etc.

I hate the idea of abortion, but it's just a fact that most would be leaching off the government.

Nice retort. Again, how do you fix those unwanted children and make it really pro life instead of just pro birth instead of just blabbing crap about women & other people's mothers?

I could say the same about you.

Justify killing this:

My interpretation might be controversial. At a chemical level we really aren't that different from mice, insects, or even plants. I think who we are individually is defined by the collection of memories we have. When we talk about things like AI, we talk about rights and what to do after that moment of self-awareness. I think that is because we can identify that moment as being important. Life that isn't self-aware, or have any memories, I think that complicates the question. It reminds me of a quote I love from Mark Twain when someone asked him if he feared death. He said, "I was dead for millions of years before I was alive and it didn't bother me then."

Yeah it sucks that a $2 condom could save society from so many ills. Yet we cant even get responsible adults to protect themselves from all these unwanted pregnancies.

There is only one interpretation that matters and its not yours. I'll give you one guess and it starts with a G.

That's not what I said. I said there should be special taxes and those, like you, should spend actual time mentoring. You replied with telling me my mother should have aborted me. Typical hypocrite answer.

Acually make it pro life.

A one-month old child fits that description. No one would agree that its life has no worth or should be terminated.

What kind of rude awakening do I have? I assure you I'm not going to hell for believing in women's rights.
I see... when its unwanted its a mass of cells. When it is wanted its a baby and needs to be protected from alcohol. You truly are an idiot.
I'm just trying to keep the unborn from being born defective. Either healthy babies or no babies

I don't make arguments using absolutes.

Edit: Unless its about gamecock football and how much it sucks.

Never said your mother should do squat. Just said it was too bad she didn't believe as you do. You took it from there. Donating to charity doesn't always mean money Mr Wizard. Have you ever heard of donating your time to charity. In fact, I have donated over at least 1500 hours of my time in the last ten years alone to juvenile charities. Also personally involved in raising over $150,000 for those same charities over the same time.

That's not in reference to women's rights but your cluster of cells comment.

Yes, you did. Saying "too bad your mother did not think you were a group of cells" does not take much to read between the lines what you meant. Don't try to backtrack. And, I was wanted & planned. many kids are not.

Good thing you actually give your time. But, you failed to mention you gave your time. Hopefully, you actually help.

And, what I believe as to government interference as to personal & medical decisions does not mean I would do the same thing. I lost a good friend from childhood because she choose to have her child. Dead from cancer at age 27 because she chose to not treat her cancer because she was pregnant. A child's life not knowing her mother. I only hope her husband allowed her parents & brother to be a part of that child's life.

Post controversial OT thread, see if anyone takes the bait and shares their opinion, sit back and watch others attempt to discredit that opinion then share theirs, repeat. Got it.

Birth defects happen all the time. Autism is now 1 out of 64 males, I'm pretty sure alcohol isn't the leading cause.

It really is. I've heard that we've recently reached the point where the human species is using the earth's natural resources faster than they can replenish themselves

Yes, I run this board. You'd miss me and you know it
OP with a rehash of Hobbes- he only beat you by 500 years or so. In that spirit, "short, nasty and brutish" should be the theme of your threads henceforth.

Of course, that isn't "just a fact." Nobody knows what the effect of those people living out their lives would've been. Not having abortion as an option for "birth control" would also, presumably, have an effect on people's sexual behavior. And then there's the whole question of what the crime rates and poverty rates were before abortion was legalized...

I mean that's what it is. A cluster of cells

Technically, everything is a cluster of cells. The question is whether that cluster of cells, which is a separate human organism, is one that ought to have the right to life. Your comment is neither here nor there.

Lol, a lot of leaps of faith in here. At the end of the day, abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Anything else is either only supported by religion or incredibly barbaric.

If it's microscopic I wouldn't say that it's a human being just yet. When the heart starts beating, then we can talk.

I think most people would agree that whether or not you mentor somebody is a question on a different level from one about whether or you can be killed for no reason. There's not much reason to sort out questions about social support if you're dead.

Since when do liberals give a shit about an unborn child?????
We always have. When it's an actual fetus, we would rather it not be aborted. When it's a few thousand cells, then it's fine. It's taking up the same amount of space in your body as a bacterial infection. They are esssntially one in the same.

Well, you're wrong about the science on this. Your position, which comes from the idea that people ought to be autonomous- even from their bodies- has more to do with faith than the one based on the scientific fact that a new human organism exists at conception. Criteria for political rights like when the heart beat shows up is just arbitrary, really.

I really have no idea why you think it's "only supported by religion or incredibly barbaric" to want to give the right to life to all human beings, other than that you have a very blinkered understanding of this issue.

Oh, so size and how comparable size is to non-humans determines whether a human being has political rights? That really sounds scientific and not at all about rationalizing something.
