OT Wendy’s Chili is a LOSER

The good thing about Santee is that there is a Tesla Supercharging station there. It is in the parking lot of the Clark’s Inn hotel and there is a pretty good restaurant in that hotel.

Yep Kitty Collier is the manager for the motel and restaurant.

She and I talked about the Tesla charging stations.

Tesla leased the land from them. The coming electric charging of EV vehicles will not be liquid fuels station centric but will focus on amenities available while the 30 to 35 minute supercharge is completed

I am reviewing opportunities in this area

That station cost Tesla about $600,000 and same is in St. George at Food Lion shopping center.

There will more than likely be some very soon up and down 95 and 26 at key exits spaced out

I talked to Tesla on some locations

My wife and I were traveling on I95 going through Santee and stopped at the Wendy’s at Exit 98

Bought large Chili for each of us for dinner to eat with ham sandwich

Got home warmed the chili and proceeded to taste the absolute loser of a chili

The tomato soup mixture had no hamburger , peppers onions cheese and only a few white beans and even fewer brown beans

Since it was what I bought and decided to accept it as tomato soup and with that I was not disappointed

What most people will miss on what my post means is that the quality of food and many people serving the food is at the bottom of the barrel

If you have restaurant stock sell it

If you want to eat out don’t

And when you shop at the grocery stores learn to appreciate boneless and skinless sardines in olive oil and served on brown rice with onions smothered in Dijon mustard sauce

Or grow your own garden as America is going to crap and I want to thank the people who did this because there is a coming revolt against this lunacy and we will return to conservative responsible government and Clemson will win 3 NC in the next 7 years

And you know who you are
I like drugs too but there is such a thing as too much

Most gigantic "Who gives a Shit" thread in recent memory.

If you're going to Wendy's for your chili, grab a clue. Or a fork, or an Ancho, or a minimal amount of cooking skills. The shit ain't that hard.

And I'm no food snob.
I think it’s funny that he grabbed 2 for him and the wife to have dinner later. Like a Sammy Kershaw “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer” style date night.

There is no fast food in Santee. There are chain drive-through restaurants, but none are fast. Most have closed because of it. Next time stop at Exit 219 in Manning. Lots of options.

Wendy's chili is hit or miss. If they scoop the ladle off the top you get nothing but liquid.

BTW - their chili, although not great, is good when you are driving. You can drink it and it's lower in carbs and calories than burgers.
And there is a Popeyes at the main Manning exit in the truck stop. You can have horrible service in a bad environment and get a great spicy chicken sandwich.

What?

I like Wendy’s Chili and have since 1975 or so. I’ve never had a cup like OP described.
Sounds like that Wendy’s was running low and watered the chili like folks water bourbon.
Yep. I love Wendy's chilli & Baconator. I've always gotten the chili instead of fries because until recently, the fries were undercooked & soggy.

I mean, I echo your sentiment, but every time I've had Wendy's chill it has been pretty darn good. Could be you just had a bad batch at a bad restaurant.

I like the idea of Trailer Park Dinner Night

For the games last night pickup food all afternoon

boiled shrimp on ice

Bacon wrapped smokies

Cheese assortment

catfish stew

Veggie assortment

Pinot noir wine from Costco

So rednecking it is OK with me

Maybe for Super Bowl week I will do Waygu Steaks or grilled pork chops and fries in my air fryer

Love doing the chief thing in retirement

Oops that would be Chef thing LOL

LOL at to go orders at any I95 off ramp fast food joint. I'm not defending Wendy's but the 'off ramp' restaurants are the worst.

The level of incompetence displayed by whoever is running Santee is amazing.

Haven't eaten Wendy's chili in probably 15 years. It used to be okay

Thanks everyone, this thread actually made me lol several times. In my head I envisioned this whole conversation taking place on the old Hee Haw set with costumes and everything.

Zero shock here that OP is upset about the taste of Wendy's chili. Even less shock that he's taken the opportunity to, seemingly, blame the workers?

Yikes op.

It was a $1 bowl of Chili from a fast food place that is only on the menu to give them a way to work away yesterday’s extra burgers.

what exactly did you expect?

Of course it is bottom of the barrel, that is what it was designed to be
THIS. Also, not sure how OP connected bad fast food chili to America going to shit (was Wendy's chili ever good? I can say that I've eaten at Wendy's less than 20 times in my entire life and never had their Chile). I'm thinking that Wendy's might have used some of the "special" mushrooms in OP's chili.

Don't blame his rotten attitude on the glorious mushroom.

The workers are more victims than perpetrators

They follow the lead of management down the tubes

We need to sympathize with them but still they are willing to accept doing a poor job and in fairness they are being lead by the nose into the dumpster fire of a restaurant
