Well, he was free to carry it, that was his right for sure. BUT, there are consequences to walking around in a mask with a rifle in your hands. One of those is that you get ZERO benefit of the doubt from others (including the cops) when things go sideways. I looked at the film, and you can't tell what happened. It looked as if the car did intentionally turn into the protest... but it also looked like the protestors were surrounding the car a bit after the driver blew his horn. Stupid people and guns usually mean trouble. If I'd been the driver and a dude with an AK was even looking like he was going to raise that rifle, I'd have put rounds into him.
