Racism

You do realize if youre caught with drugs or any other illegal substance you will be prosecuted. Why do it or its just an oppressing situation.

Black people are more likely to be convicted of a drug related offense than white people. Besides that, the war on drugs is a waste of time and money.

Yeah, unfortunately you're wastinge your time. I got into an argument a fewmonths back on a thread where a vast majority of posters were arguing that white privilege wasn't a thing. Like, nobody is even telling you you have to do anything about it. Just simply acknowledge that white privilege absolutely exists. But these posters wouldn't budge. Even my most conservative real-life friends understand the basic concept of privilege.
The only privileges I believe exist are those of motivation and education. Having these usually get you ahead in life and the color of a person's skin doesn't dictate the benefits reaped.

You guys have been trolled so hard into the race war. Why not consider what special interest groups are benefiting from manufacturing it through the media.

But did they single you out because of your race?
YES
I found out and one of the guys in mgt told me a year later. Two years later they tried to hire me because of the numbers my facility was accomplishing but I told them thanks Im happy here.
I got to know those guys and the reason I wasnt hired was they didnt want a Southern hick to be the face of the facility. I was like why am I a hick..."because your from SC LOL... I looked at him "I bet the next time you will never judge a book by its cover... He said "Its the single biggest mistake I will never make again. It happens but life goes on and good people will always land on their feet.

im not responding to your question because its childish and ignorant. of course those are examples of racism.

Of course it was childish. It was to get a point across.

Here's what you don't understand. People don't dislike you because you have a different opinion. They hate you because, to you, everyone else is ignorant. No one likes your narcissistic personality. In other words, no one likes a smart ass.

Well, okay. That'd be nice if it was true, but it isn't. Maybe some of these will help you understand better. @RodnHe too. I'll attach both the links and pull out the key excerpts:

People who have drugs on them will serve time my friend. My uncle and father served time for trafficking cocaine and I feel they got what they deserved. Doing illegal substance will get you time regardless of color. By the way my father is white

See the post directly above yours. Whites are less likely to be imprisoned for the same crime.

Except for black teenagers are more likely to get convicted for the exact same crime as white teenagers
MF you make bad decisions bad things will happen.... Its that simple.... I used to beg and plead to my guys leave the weed alone because its illegal and you will lose your opportunity in pro sports. If sweet tea became illegal today I would stop drinking it or lose my opportunity in school. And very few will have my opportunity its not worth the gamble.

Hate is a very strong word. I certainly don't hate ice although he and I never agree on these types of issues. He's always on the left and I'm always right:p

This feels like you're trying to lay what you consider to be a really clever trap.

The answer is that yes, it's racist. No one race has a monopoly on being racist and no race is immune from being the victims of racism. In this country, though, it seems that minority races tend to be disproportionately affected by racism than the majority race.

Why do Asian Americans make more than any other group in the United States?

OK, is this racism? Im from the rural south and a minority by a long shot growing up in classes where 90% of my classmates were of another race.

I was called many things because of my race. Even had a few instances where kids would approach me that I'd never seen before, call me a name and punch me (this is how I lost my first tooth).

Would you call this behavior racist?

I was short and wore glasses and pretty smart. White and black guys used to call me names and punch me. Was this racism on two fronts. Should I be protesting. im white. Middle class. Was able to be so because my parents WORKED THIER ASSES OFF to be so. White privilege? if you aren't 50 or older take your oppression talk elsewhere. It was an awful time in history that people for some reason are trying to harken back to and relate to today. The sense of entitlement that grows with each generation is alarming. I'm moving to Alaska. People suck.

Bad things will happen unless you're a white teenager? I just quoted that for the exact same crime. Same thing. White teenagers are give a more lenient penalty. How do u rationalize that?

This.

Because I disagree with your posts? I enjoy discussing topical matters?

But there's nothing more to discuss? I guess I just don't understand your point. I said racism exists. You agree. Okay

except statistics tell us what you just said is the exact opposite of the truth.

Illegal drug use higher among whites than blacks.
Drugs blacks use, despite being less harmful than some drugs whites use, carry stiffer mandetory minimums.
Whites more likely to deal drugs, less likey to be arrested.

It sounds like you went through a lot and you persevered, which is great.
You made salient points. Studies do show that thin good looking people are more likely to be chosen for jobs and promotions, etc.

That still doesn't change the fact that racism exists in this country.
It doesn't change the fact that biases exist such that minorities many not get then same opportunity for a job, the same type of medical care, the same type of education, regardless of how hard they work. Thereinlies the problem.

Why do Asian Americans earn more than any other group including the majority?

I dont care.
We all know its illegal so dont put yourself in that position.

You don't care that the law on this issue unfairly deals out punishment based on your race?
You can't see how that's a problem?

The law is not racist. The law is inanimate and has to be administered and interpreted by humans.

Please cite the law that administers penalties based on race.

Here we have a white person who is an expert on oppression telling how minorities should or shouldn't act.

we all are experts of oppression.

oppression is defined by the parameters built within each individual's mind.

i think many minorities use the term "oppression" for their outcome instead of the real terms-

like "laziness"

Dude, at least try to have a conversation. The law itself may not be racist anymore but the enforcement of the law or the reasoning for the law (see crack cocaine sentencing vs powdered cocaine sentencing) can absolutely be applied in an unfair manner.

I am having a conversation just pointing out that there isn't a law today that's racist.

Crack vs Cocaine sentencing guidlines are a poor argument, considering the stance the congressional black caucus, among others, took on the issue going back to Nixon's White House. Were there disparate consequences, yes, and much of the laws pertaining to this have been repealed or ammended for years now.

If you want to say that there may be racists that are judges or prosecutors or that end up on juries I would agree. There are racist individuals from every race, creed, color, socioeconomic, religious affiliation, sexual orientation and any other group you want to add. This will never change, the world is full of morons.

So what you do is accept that blacks will have a higher conviction rate? Unacceptable to me. That's why having blind juries is an idea. Or why just getting rid of some ineffective laws is a good idea

I do and all I have heard is crying from both black and white. They base the sentence on the drug, the amount and your previous record. Those are the facts so believe what you want. I think they all should be deported.... Nothing good develops from drugs
