Republicans Are Just Evil Now

I’m sure they’ll agree not needing an ID to vote too.

Just show up with your pistol, tell them I’m John Smith over at 123 Main Street and I’m here to vote.

Everything is fine.
You dont need an id to vote…its racist to ask people to show id to vote. Not everyone can get off their ass twice a decade and get to a dmv for an id.

You only need one to fly, prove you got the unsafe and ineffective covid vax, or buy alcohol. Voting is different tho no id required dems demand that

Well voting is a right. Flying isn't. Not that many people actually understand the ratified rights our government was formed to protect.

Tell everyone you're stupid without saying "I'm stupid."

Truly evil. This comes 2 days after yet another school shooting.

I have rifles and shot guns, I do not currently own any handguns, although Im considering it. Here in Maryland, if I want a handgun, I have to apply for a HQL, be finger printed, background check, and take a gun safety course before being allowed to purchase.

Here is my question on the NC law and Federal Background check ... I ask because I dont know ...

The article says
"... a criminal and background check had previously been required before a purchase permit for a handgun transfer could be issued. Individuals “under indictment or convicted of a felony, fugitives, unlawful drug users, those adjudicated mentally incompetent or who have been committed to any mental institution, illegal or unlawful aliens and those who have renounced United States citizenship, those with dishonorable discharges from the Armed Forces, and those subject to domestic violence restraining orders” were prohibited from obtaining a permit under the old law.

... Federal background checks for handgun purchases from licensed dealers remain in effect."

Do federal background checks verify the same things as the state law verified? Otherwise, is/was the state law redundant?

Federal background checks target crimes committed on the federal level, and typically include more serious crimes that are more rare. State background checks (depending on if it's single state or multi-state) only cover crimes committed in the state(s) requested. State background checks cover crimes that were charged at the city level, county level, and state level when federal assistance wasn't requested.

So to answer your question, yes and no regarding redundancy. It's redundant in that they both check for the same crimes, mostly, but the state background check covers all local charges, and federal covers everything else.

Are guns not a right either? You should have an ID to vote.
Well depends how your read the 2nd amendment. But yes in my reading it states clearly that I should be able to wield a nuclear weapon.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

2nd amendment was put there to hedge against the government becoming oppressive.

So let me get this straight. The side thats attacking and murdering kids in school because they are upset we wont allow them to molest, multilate, and murder kids is calling our side evil towards kids? Rightttttttttttttttt..................Thats rich....

Funny how people read the last four words but not the first three.

yea the 4th word is kinda the subject of the first 3 so that's an entirely disingenuous statement. "shall not be infringed" is their only comment at all that could be framed as speaking to regulation of arms, and i think they made it pretty fkn clear where they stood on that. many of the founding fathers further eloquated on the precise meaning of the 2nd amendment as well...here's some personal favorites

benny boy said it poetically

“they that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." – benjamin franklin

zj (not technically a founding father but he whooped cornwallis ass in va which led to his surrender) put it bluntly

“the people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. they are left in full possession of them.” -zachariah johnson

but there's many more out there i haven't read or have forgotten for further clarity.

well...voting is a right for citizens, and people who are actually living. confirming your age and identity doesn't infringe your right in any way, it ensures integrity of your vote. but i'm sure it sounded good in your head.
