The Shamecocks have no one but themselves to blame. If they had filled the stadium and made communication difficult for Illinois, I believe we would be looking at a different outcome.

Beamer made a laughing stock of himself, but that may convince the chicken fans that they were screwed by the officials. We will see what the SEC apologists come up with. SEC teams should have, could have, and would have won games with proper officiating. The reviewed calls in the Clemson game were perfect and no way controversial (according to ESPN).

Now THEY were on the cusp of a close victory and couldn't make it happen. Not only that, but the SEC's "best" teams being left out of the playoffs has died an undeniable death. The Sellers for Heisman sales job (led by the ESPN cheering team) is on life support. It may be too late to structure contracts to tie a good portion of the payout to season's end and bowl participation. I hope and pray the chickens experience a portal fall similar to FSU. Illinois has provided a defensive game plan for teams going forward. Sellers needs to improve his passing game or next season will be very long. I don't see that and also don't see Beamer assembling a tight end and receiver corps to help him out.
