Thank god for church

Where you can go to be safe. Not like a drag show or something horrible

The church of Latter-Day Saints isn't a Christian Church. But yes pedophilia is rampant in every institution known to man and is Sin. (Evil)

You are one sick person.

I'll still be glad to pray for you....... though no one can really help you.
There IS help available.
Hopefully, one day you'll see that.

IT is one sick person. I think IT is a troll. IT will say it is neutral, but only points out the faults of Repulicans. Never in the opposite direction.
It'll say these things about church, but has no problem with illegal people who aren't supposed to be here in the first place killing/raping/stealing from Americans.

It just wants to mock religion.

It's Mormon and true Evangelicals do not consider the Mormon church, a Christian Church. Evangelicals consider Mormonism a cult.
I can understand how you think your point of view is the only one that matters.

Let’s take a step back from your narrow view and take a look. They believe the same fairy tales you do. They have the same magic book. Celebrate the birth of Jesus just like you. You can hate your brother, but he’s still yours.

I think your life would have turned out better with a little bit of religion in it. Maybe you wouldn't be such a miserable and insufferable prick.
No, my god taught me to love one another like my neighbor and judge not lest I become a judge, or something like that. I don’t know what your guy teaches, but congratulations on having plankless eyes

There is no bigger detriment to the advancement of our species than religion.
So, you put your faith in man? You, sir, are taking a far greater leap of faith than I am willing to take. You must have a better plan for obtaining peace and salvation. I sincerely hope it works out for you.

If I can anticipate your retort, I suspect you'll contend that you put faith in no one (which would be an even greater leap of faith, if it were true--it's not*), that you have no hope for peace and salvation. If so, then that is tragic.

(*) Note that hope and faith are synonyms, empty hope is foolish, and the absence of hope is death. Dum spiro spero...if while [you] breathe, [you] hope, then to exist is to have faith.

I am fascinated by science. I love it and study it across various disciplines purely as a hobby (or obsession). You might conclude that every day I "question with boldness even the existence of a god"--and you'd be correct. By man's own definition of the laws of science, something cannot arise out of nothing. From the classical cosmological models to the newer Standard Model of Particle Physics to the thus far elusive Grand Unified Theory, nothing is able to capture a theory of existence. Einstein's General Theory of Relativity perhaps comes closest when it broaches the topic of a singularity--the singularity being a single point in spacetime of zero volume from which all the mater of the universe is thought to have originated. So, what some refer to as The Singularity, I refer to as The Author, The Creator, Yahweh, Elohim, Adonai, El Shaddai, Abba Father, the Alpha and the Omega, the Great I AM, God. I aim to follow His plan for my salvation laid out in His Holy Scripture. But it is just an aim. I am but a man, so I am bound to miss wildly. It is by the redeeming blood of the living God that I find real and everlasting peace. It is available to me wherever I go. Even here on Earth.

I know you don't care but I have a conservative theological view on the Bible. Theologically conservative or liberal shouldn't be confused politically conservative or liberal. Evangelicals and most historians believe in a historical Jesus. There's too much external evidence to dismiss Jesus. I choose to believe in a creator, God, or specifically Yahweh and his supernatural abilities. I believe in Jesus who died and rose again so that other people would have a way to righteous relationship with God. My faith is similar to your belief that this incredibly complex universe was created from nothing and by no intelligent design. To me Atheists are the ones with the crazy faith. It's hard to look at the complexities of this world and all that's in it and say there is no design and that there was a cosmic bang that caused this to come into order. Where did the bang come from? Can something come from random nothingness and that random something keep spiraling into more and more order and complexity. The 2nd law of thermodynamics says it can't. Instead I believe many atheists choose to worship themselves or other creation rather than the Creator.
Mormons have extra biblical teaching where one man John Smith looked into his hat to interpret for everyone else what this new revelation would be. This is nowhere close to how the Biblical cannon came to be. Even evangelically Liberal would say that Mormon's beliefs are heretical and more cult like. This has nothing to do with Judgement, I can't truly Judge anyone. Although I do believe that we will be judged by our Creator. I do believe he has made a way through Jesus Christ for all that are guilty to be declared righteous.

You’re not the first to believe in a god and somehow your god has so much in common with all the other gods that came before yours. Odd how that happens. Almost like it’s more about the story than the actual facts. Enjoy your comfort in fantasy.

It is a story, and it is replete with both facts and conjecture, comprising much of our known history of ancient times. This fact is neither controversial nor is it in dispute. But that's not the point. It is so much more than a story or an historical account of ancient times. It is a plan for everlasting peace and eternal salvation.

As I mentioned above, its sounds like you too have a better plan. I sincerely hope that works out for you. The thing is, if I am wrong, I will go in peace either way.

Do you know that you are quoting Jesus of Nazareth--a man you claim does not or did not exist?

When Jesus was questioned by a Pharisee (a Jewish religious leader), he was asked "What is the greatest commandment?" To this he replied, to "love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul. The second," he went on, "is just like it. To love your neighbor as yourself".

From chatGPT:

Do most ancient historians believe Jesus actually existed?

Yes, the majority of ancient historians and scholars agree that Jesus of Nazareth was a historical figure. This consensus is based on several key pieces of evidence from both Christian and non-Christian sources.
  1. Non-Christian Sources: Historians such as Flavius Josephus, a Jewish historian, and Tacitus, a Roman historian, mentioned Jesus in their writings. Josephus referred to Jesus as a wise man and a teacher, while Tacitus documented the crucifixion of Jesus under Pontius Pilate.
  2. Biblical Accounts: The letters of Paul and the Gospels in the New Testament also provide early accounts of Jesus' life and teachings.
  3. Archaeological Evidence: Discoveries like the Shroud of Turin and inscriptions referencing Jesus further support his historical existence.
While there is no scholarly consensus on many details of Jesus' life, the crucifixion and baptism are widely accepted as historical events.

Not that you asked me, but for the sake of discussion, I am at least a little conflicted about what to think of the Mormons. They do believe in the deity of Jesus and He is central to their faith. They also believe in the Holy Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so they are Christians by most objective measures.

I am a Protestant Baptist myself, but I have no doubt that we will see Mormons, Catholics and Jews in Heaven. The aim of the Baptist is not to get your instruction from man, including preachers and religious leaders or someone else's interpretation of the Bible, but from your own prayerful and deliberate study of the Bible. After all, we all fall short and no man with worthy of worship.

I think it’s hilarious most of you guys talk like you’ve never read the book. Live almost none of the values unless it’s an opportunistic chance to use ‘because god’ as your argument.

I have read the book cover-to-cover, twice. I need to do it a third and forth time. I also routinely mix different translations, and where specific periods or places are mentioned, I reach for nonconinical and academic publications to help complete the picture. All of this, and yet I routinely encounter people with far greater command of the Scripture than I. It's a lifelong pursuit, and no one can claim a complete grasp.

If I read you correctly, we would all do well to follow yours (and Jesus') advice to love our neighbors as ourselves. We can all go far on just that principle.
