The problem with Biden's policies - primarily entitlements - is that they are forever. You cannot get rid of entitlements once enacted. They already make up the majority of our federal budget and he tried to expand entitlements in a big way with BBB. Student loan forgiveness is also a form of entitlement, and his proposal has perpetual funding required should it not be overturned.
It would be wonderful if we could pull money out of the air with no consequence to anyone. But as you know it doesn't work that way. Every dollar that the federal government spends needs to either come from a hardworking American taxpayer or is added to the federal debt that will ultimately be the responsibility of hardworking American taxpayers.
So when I see a situation like you describe, I feel for that person. But should other hardworking Americans - many of whom have had their own challenges, setbacks and unfortunate events - be forced to spend their family's resources to hand your friend money? Because that's what you are asking - understanding that "without a cost to anyone" is a situation that only exists in a fairy tale.
That's not how impeachment works because it's not a court of law. He was impeached but wasn't kicked out of office, NOT because he wasn't guilty but because Republicans feared the backlash from people like you. People that put Trump before country, aka shitty people.

If he's paid the amount of the principal back several times over, what would the creditor really be losing if they didn't recoup the amount of interest that was repeatedly tacked on over the years? That would only be a paper loss, correct?

If Trump wins in a landslide and Biden refuses to accept it and convinces the majority of his voters that the vote was stolen and he calls them all to Washington and spins them into a lather and they attack Congress and hunt down Kamala so she can't record the votes, no biggie? What if he then grifts the voters for a quarter billion over said lie and continues talking about it for years, it's just a big nothing-burger?

I didn't say you (assuming you mean the left and not yourself as I wasn't aware you were in office) had it coming, I said 4 years of impeachment efforts normalized it. It used to be a dirty word no one said, now it's thrown out every time there is a party vs party disagreement. It's actually a really bad look for the country so I'm not supportive.
At what point has the robust arm of the US govt proven there was any corruption worthy of prosecution? Can you imagine how easy it should be to find a crime when you have every inch of the government trying to find one? Yet......still nothing. Personally, let's get him in jail so Desantis can win it all in 2024.
Still nothing? How can you say that with a straight face? We read the transcript, we heard the witnesses and we know he was responsible for the Big Lie and all the mayhem that followed. Just because he does his corruption in the open and it's become normalized, doesn't mean it's nothing. The only reason he didn't have to pay consequences is because the Rs are terrified of him, and rightly so. Look what happened to the one's that voted to convict.
He has never shown any evidence of being an honorable man and doesn't believe in guardrails or laws. Left unchecked, who knows how much farther he'd have gone. Impeachment was thrown around a lot those four years because he did everything in his power to earn them. He did the crime, he just escaped the time.
