Trump to Canada...

Convincing them to join us?

Why do you insist that it means by force?
Because Canadians don’t want to join the US! A huge part of Canadian identity is being not American! And our “convincing” them is basically economic force. If Canada says they don’t want to join then what do you want Trump to do?

Yeah and that’s annexation. By definition it is annexation. It was annexation when Texas joined the US https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_annexation

It would be annexation if Canada joined the US even willingly. And Canadians have 0 interest in joining the US. A huge part of Canadian identity is not being American.

I’m just blown away at how stupid these people are being
Right, I'm just saying that I don't actually believe that Trump is talking about forcibly annexing Canada. That just is different from allowing them to join (even if its because we've crushed them economically).

I just think any talk of having Canada join as a state is as realistic as having Mars as a state

that’s fine. Trump has said nothing about taking it by military force.

Economically, Trump will defend American interest and Canada should calculate on their own what is the best thing to do.

If they don’t want to pay tariffs, they could become a part of the US.

I don’t think many are taking Canada seriously. It’s kind of a joke at Trudeaus expense. Mocking his low approval rating.

Greenland i think is serious because it’s strategic
To the US and more sparsely populated and currently owned by a toothless Denmark.

I think Greenland is dead serious and Canada is just bluster.
I actually do think there are some great arguments to be made to try to purchase Greenland as a strategic asset in the area, though I actually think the way he's gone about it almost makes it less likely it actually happens. No one likes to be bullied.

See I don’t think Trump is really blustering, I think he really wants a trade war with Canada, which would be idiotic but I except nothing less from a moron who’s brains are leaking from his ears
I mean, I do think Trump likes picking fights with people with less power than him knowing there aren't really repercussions, so that fits the bill.

Well Denmark has 0 interest in selling/giving away Greenland.

Trump is also an idiot on the Canada stuff because the only thing it’s doing is w off the Canadians, who will absolutely retaliate to our tariffs with their own.

And sorry if when the man who controls the nuclear codes says he wants to annex another country that I take him seriously

Putting tariffs on Canadian goods makes 0 sense and is completely idiotic

Trump has stated that tariffs are being used as a negotiating tactic and does not want to put tariffs on anyone.

However, because the dollar hold reserve status, other countries are taking advantage of us. Trump is looking out for our interest and is looking to even the playing field with tariffs to compensate for the dollars reserve status.

Fact checked just this thread, and more insults, including from yourself one page one, or name calling from the right. But could go find another thread if you'd like?

Tariffs are taxes that importers (and ultimately consumers) pay. Not foreign countries.

SMH. Not a difficult concept.
Study the history on tariffs. Also he is using the threat to get them to step to the table. They have raised tariffs on us in the past and we did nothing....

Donald Trump: Tariffs won’t cause inflation

Guy who works for Trump: tariffs won’t cause inflstion

Every other economist: tariffs cause inflation

Fatpiggy: I believe the Trump guy
Not a true statement by you. Every other economist doesnt say that, just some. Just like some scientist dont believe in man made global warming. There are many experts with many different opinion's...

Still waiting on an answer to this. If we say we're annexing Canada, they say "no you aren't", then what happens next? What is called when one country takes over another against its will?
Trump never said he would annex Canada involuntarily. FAKE NEWS!!!

You say that as if he hasn’t endorsed multiple standard Fascist policies.
Yall always go overboard and lose credibility. Of course, a lot of the fanatics have no credibility themselves because they’ve revealed that, like Trump, they never believed anything.

It’s all just so out of left field. There didn’t seem to be any real plan for this, and there was no movement for it. It wasn’t part of the campaign. If anything, Trump has tried to position himself as an isolationist. Now he’s acting like an imperialist.

It’s not going overboard at all to say Trump has either expressed support or is actively enacting traditional Fascist policies. There are certainly some differences, because Fascism looks slightly different based on who the autocrat is and what their whims are, and he has some positions that are not traditionally Fascist, but almost everything he’s done in his first week as President are historically in line with Fascist governments.

I don’t think Trump knows he’s a Fascist, I don’t think he wakes up in the morning and says “I’m gonna be a Fascist today.” It’s just who he is and who the people around him want him to be.

Your boy trump wrote the book on it!!!

He’s much more magnanimous than I would be with what they have unjustly done to him. Weaponized the American justice system and tried every slimy, unscrupulous way possible to stop him. GOAT couldn’t be stopped. I would do more than name call if I were him. I would put their sorry arses in jail.
